Bio Hunter

Right from the beginning, it's nothing I would be amazed of, although I don't think it deserves a score this small. In order to find some hidden gem, I came across this piece. Unfortunately, it wasn't a gem as I originally thought. It was more of a conglomeration of fast pacing and a leaky script. Maybe to mention that it was made by Madhouse, so it wasn't that bad, because Madhouse is generally known for spawning a masterpiece next to a masterpiece. But there is no space to relativize it here. No wonder. This show was less than an hour long so they couldn't crama coherent plot into such a short time slot. The main characters are two scientists who we don't really know anything about. We don't know how they got the job they do and what the show is all about. We don't know their backgrounds, so we miss a lot of context. The only thing we know is that one of them caught the demon virus, which is the main theme of the whole show. For some selfless reason, he manages to keep him at bay and suppress it to an extent. A girl who is irrelevant to the plot gets in our way, and if she dies, no one will notice, even through that she looks like a main character. She is hounded by mafia for some reason, maybe because her grandfather knows the truth about their godfather and they want to get rid of them. And the godfather will eventually be the main boss - in both senses. In essence, there are 2 parallel paths that are not connected to each other in any way, but the screenwriters set it up so that our main and infected hero gets involved in a rift with the mafia, in order to end up fighting. I didn't even mention that the side jobs of the two characters, normally university teachers, was getting rid of infected people. And yet no one has given us any indication of the origin of the virus. That to find a cure method was possible because one of them was infected and wanted to get rid of the burden. If it was any longer, it would definitely be a very interesting show. Like this, it's just a segment that starts from somewhere in the middle. Sure, the animation was nice for the time. The theme and processing would suit the quality of Madhouse, so a huge plus and extra points. I wouldn't judge it as trash, but it won't win everyone's heart. Anyway, give it a shot.

Bio Hunter is a really fascinating tale of two biomolecular professors that try to unravel a mysterious retrovirus that is spreading through Japan. This virus has the ability to change its hosts into bloodthirsty monsters with increased strength and speed. One of the professors has been infected but his impeccable immune system has allowed him to remain in his human form and transform into his monster form. However, the professors are working against the clock as the virus spreads and the professor struggles with his monster side Story - The story is a really unique fusion of supernatural lore and science. It is really enjoyable tosee a plot give some molecular reasoning to viruses and to "predict someone's destiny" via their human genome. The concept has been done many times before and this story is really no different, however, it is enjoyable because of how the anime was produced with the high-quality sound design and characters. Sound/Music - the music was somewhat lacking or dated but that is due to the time the anime was created and not because of a lack of skill. However, a lot of the sound effects were really well edited and they were always used to enhance a scene. The gun noises and the creepy/eerie sound effects were the most notably well executed. The voice acting was also very well done, with all of the characters having fitting voices and conveying real emotions. Art- The anime was produced in the mid-90s so it definitely displayed the retro anime aesthetic that is really interesting and different. The 90s were known for producing anime with characters that were diverse in appearance. The characters had a lot of defining features. The landscapes in the anime were decently drawn. Overall - As someone who very much enjoys older anime and the seinen/gore genre, Bio Hunter was really satisfying. Madhouse is a solid production company, creating many other awesome action anime that i highly recommend (Trigun, Black Lagoon, Hellsing Ultimate, and DeathNote to name a few). They definitely know what they are doing and don't usually produce shit shows. The concept and style of the show are refreshing from the slew of new animes that design their characters to look the same.

Rate a 5 Seen via English dubbed Story/art Not original. Similar to a couple older shows like ghost busters for example. Even though the question one would have are answered it fails to make the viewer captive. perhaps, it is due to the unrealistic approach the art has. Don't get me wrong the art is done nicely just not nerve raking. If you have seen any of the Saw movies you know what i mean. Those movies use very realistic effects and i get can't help but getting scared. Here i felt the need to yawn. Sound No complaints nor compliments. Character background was covered but i would of have like toknown the main characters before they ran this night business of theirs. Enjoyment Scifi horror is basically what this is. If you were a fan of angel the t.v. show you might like this.

Bio Hunter Right from the get-go I am enthralled into this anime. A couple is making love (no one is in the room with me) I'm thinking, "Alright, let's see where this is going." BOOM somebody dies. Now you've got my attention. The story line actually isn't very thought out, but the two main characters are detectives and stumble into a life-or-death case involving them now. At first they wanted to help this poor lady in distress, but then they become emotionally attached and can't just leave her alone. Background: A demon virus is on the loose and infecting people. These Infected devour other people in orderto survive, and look just like humans. It is only when the demon becomes hungry that the demon morphs the human body into a machine of slaughter. It also doesn't help that the victims are normally well-drawn out beautiful women. One thing to take note here is that although the main antagonists always just HAPPEN to appear and create chaos, there is a logical path to the story line and always a sense of tension ( what's going to happen next ). Story - 6 - Taken in it's purest form, the story line is equivalent of a great porno (18+). Art - 10 - Beautiful-drawn retro art style. Massive work put into this. Sound - 8 - Great sense of tension in the sound track. The music also matches the same era as the graphics. Characters - 5 - Not too much back story here, but enough to understand character's emotions. Overall - 8 - This score is given because the story is incredibly tense and satisfying. I even skipped breakfast just to finish this show. That's serious. Recommended - Great 58min skit. Totally worth the movie night, and because the men are shown shirtless at times, it would be a very provocative couple's movie.
