Detective Conan Movie 17: Private Eye in the Distant Sea
名探偵コナン 絶海の探偵
The warship Aegis Destroyer is conducting public exercises in Maizuru Bay where, coincidentally, a suspicious foreign ship was recently spotted. Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri, Kogorou Mouri, Sonoko Suzuki, and the Detective Boys all receive a ticket to attend this event. However, while the ongoing military operations are underway, one of the crew members comes across a lieutenant's severed left arm. Conan later discovers that a foreign spy may have infiltrated the warship to obtain classified information by any means necessary. If the information were to leak, Japan's line of defense would be exposed, leaving the country unprotected from hostile attack. With the help of the police at sea while other friends and allies investigate on the mainland, Conan must now prevent this national crisis and identify the spy for the sake of Japan. As expected from a Conan movie: exciting and a very nice treat for conan fans :) The story was good, and I loved how they incorporated real-life details about the Japanese self-defense force and the Aegis system. Lovely end song. Art is the usual, but I especially liked how accurately the design of the destroyer was depicted. The movie has a nice, smooth development and many thrilling moments. I thought the ending was slightly exaggerated, but I won't spoil anything. The very last scene was really touching :') I surprisingly enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Overall, it was a lovely thing that many Conanfans if not all would enjoy and works as a stand-alone as well for others to enjoy just the same.

The best Conan movie so far! All the elements came perfectly together I love how all the different groups like the beika police, kyoto police, marine force, shonen tantei, agasa and heiji all had their important parts in it. Everyone was working together with Conan as the central point. The new boy they added was very cute too, I cried in the end. And I thought it was SO COOL how Ran really fought evenly with the enemy. not just the usually 'ow no, Ran got caught again'. she was totally kicking ass! And the way how she disappeared really seemed impossible to find her this time. Everyone's reactionwas so real. Definitely a great movie if you're a Conan lover!

"Ojisan, thank you".. Not everyday we can hear Conan thanking Kogoru but in this movie we definitely did, and it was a great moment♥ Conan's eyes and smile were beautifully made. Story 9/10: It was pretty interesting how the scenes shifted between the vacation scenes and the mystery ones and that the focus wasn't just on a certain murder case. I was a bit skeptical about it being a third sea movie but it was pulled gracefully and the story kept drowning me till the end, especially the great collaboration between the cast. On the other hand, as per usual, Conan pulls a Rambo in somescenes to keep the events going but HEY it's not anyone it's Edogawa Conan the tantesa we are talking about. From giving orders to high ranked marines to carrying a satellite phone watch, tranquilizer, and ball dispensing belt without getting discovered to a military-ship all that with his first grader body! Art 9/10: I've always found the movies' art greater than the actual anime, and this movie is no exception. Every character looked great and the scenery was good even with the excessive use of CGI it was consistent with the 2d animation and felt natural. Sound 8/10: The voicing is great as always, but the OST didn't stand out much. Characters 8/10: I must mention how cute were the scenes between Heiji and Kazuha that we don't see everyday, but Kazuha didn't seem like her usual sharp self because she didn't question a thing the whole time and didn't even notice that Heiji was talking to Conan and referring to him as Shinchi (And even if we assumed that the phone volume was so low that she didn't hear, she should have at least question the situation or told Ran about it later on). Also, wished the kid that Conan befriends played a more major role, still I'm grateful for having him (I always like it when Conan befriends a kid in a case). The villains didn't add any dimensionality and the word SPY didn't fit them really. Enjoyment 9/10: I was excited the whole time, great execution of the movie. Although I still roll my eyes whenever a case/movie/chase/event ends with a ball kick - I don't understand why don't they just end it with a witty plan or even re/introduce another gadget cuz the ball is turning into a cliche and it's not even as iconic as the bow-tie and tranquilizer duo-. Finally, I shouldn't forget to mention the credits part where we see the ship in reality! It was really interesting how detailed it was made out to be. There is so much more to talk about in this movie, but I don't want to make my review any longer.

Not many of the Detective Conan movies really feel like they're episodes of the same show, but that generally isn't a problem at all. It's a movie, so the stakes have to be higher. But what if one movie managed to combine the big stories of the movies with the general feel and charm of the show? Well my friends, you would have the 17th movie: Private Eye in the Distant Sea. Story (8/10): Conan and friends are boarding an Aegis Destroyer for a day of fun on the high seas. But, as usual for this group, trouble follows in the form of a severedarm turning up in the ships filters. After that is a race against the clock to keep national secrets at bay, catch a set of spies, and to solve the murder of a lieutenant. This story is big and relatively complex, but it really works well for the whole movie. While it does drag in certain sections, the mystery is split up into chunks for the audience to keep the flow moving. It may seem almost too wordy (and that's saying something for a Conan movie), but it captures the feeling of a thriller novel and keep syou on your toes as to what could happen next. Plus, the resolution of everything is rather interesting and definitely fun for everyone watching. Art (8/10): While it's getting repetitive for me to say that the art is really good, it just seems like every movie finds whole new ways to shine. Here, thanks to the frantic pace of the majority of the film, the characters are always moving around and their models are really well done. Also the few fight scenes are probably the best bits of animation in the whole thing. If I must complain, the backgrounds here are supremely boring and it feels like the background characters are literally in the background for how much they move and do anything. Sound (7/10): It's a Detective Conan music. So, as usual, it's pretty good. Character (8/10): Leaving out the normal Conan cast (since they just tend to act like themselves), we have a somewhat big cast involving the crew on the destroyer and the police characters that end up popping up 2/5ths of the way through the movie. And luckily for us they are fairly important to the plot. All the SDF characters are reasonable people and act as appropriate as military. While there are just a few too many, they are all fairly nice to watch. In particular, praise must be given to the singular female member of the cast there, since once she's really allowed into the plot, she becomes one of the highlights of the movie. The villians are a bit mixed, though they do their job fairly well. Granted, there are only two people, but one is correctly villainous, while the other is kind of bland evil. But in the context of the movie it works. (Also, major props to Ran for having a completely badass moment here. You go girl!) Enjoyment (8/10): Thankfully, this is a huuuge step up from the last movie in all areas. I was really on the edge of my seat waiting to see where the plot would take us next. I just generally had a lot of fun with this movie and I'll take a thriller-mystery for the awesomeness that it is any day. Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea is a great return to form of the better movies (a la 13 and 14). The plot is solid, the movie cast well done, the action great, and just overall a generally fun movie for any one to just pick up and watch. 8/10 = a fun movie with a great plot and all around fun; maybe a bit too much jumping around, but you get used to it very quickly; DC fans will like this if they liked movies 13 and 14, but even non-fans can have fun with it;

If you ask which movie is the best in Conan. Of course, my answer would be, without hesitation, Private Eye in the Distant Sea. Dear reader, if you want to know the reason for my choice. Is that I felt a beautiful and warm feeling while I watched it. I cried because I couldn't bear the thought of losing Ran. And I rejoiced from the bottom of my heart that she did not die Well, this movie has a special story. It touched political aspects of our daily life and touched Japan's national security. And the risks to security,such as spies, and the danger of these mice to the country, This is interesting isn't it ? The story begins in a warship. Everything seems to be fine. It looks like a normal cruise expedition. But wait a moment, unfortunately in Conan, the moments of happiness do not last long. Soon an amputated arm is found. As usual, Conan always cornered himself and interfered. From here begins this bittersweet affair !! I liked the sequence of events and the multiplicity of characters. Hiji and Kazuha appeared ... and they all have the same goal of stopping possible crimes. This film also showed the integrated relationship between the characters of Detective Conan. And it appears that they all cooperate in order to catch the spy But the story takes another turn. Heiji was hit by a bullet. He was lucky it wasn't serious. And after the capture of Takekawa. Heiji and Kazuha's actual role in the film ended. Then Ran stumbled upon the spy, before everyone else. She is trying to save Yuki. She ignored the danger and started fighting the spy with karate. She was about to win, but the spy threw her into the sea in order to silence her and hide the truth. But Conan and the rest find it. After the case is resolved, it appears that everything is fine. But with the criminal admitting that he had thrown a high school girl who practiced karate, Conan was terrified because he realized that Ran was in danger, in these scenes the voices were successful. They conveyed their feelings fabulously and I really liked their work. When Conan learned that X pushed Ran into the sea, he was seriously calming himself to think a way in finding Ran and starts to recall about the time he went to Tropical Land with Ran. At that time, Ran had said "No matter where I am, you'll always find me, right? Great Detective", to which he thinks, "How can I be a great detective if I can't even find Ran?" When the pilots couldn't find Ran even with the radio waves emitting from the ship, Conan thinks her name repeatedly while clenching his fist and shedding his first tear. Later, he breaks down, screaming "RAN!" so loudly that she heard him even from under the Sea. And here the author has demonstrated the strength of the feelings of these two. Ran almost died, but when she heard Conan’s voice, she imagined that Conan was Shinichi. She remembered his promise to her that he would find her, and she felt happy that she was seeing Shinichi in front of her. Moments later, the search crew was able to pick up a tiny signal on the radio waves, and when the helicopter headed to the signal site, they found Ran. And here ended the moments of sadness and tension, Conan felt relieved. When Ran was taken out of the sea, she kept chanting Shinichi Really an amazing movie. I've seen it hundreds of times because I was really touched, So I consider it as the best movie. Because for the first time I was able to see Conan 😂 tears 💯💯 My final rating 10/10
