Recommended

This was a very short anime, I saw all the episodes in about 1 night. One reason I liked this was because it was very cute and random. But a reason I didn't like it was because it didn't have Piyoko in it. Piyoko is a character from most of the other Di Gi Charat series, by the way. The art style was very cute, I really liked it. ^^ I think if you have time, you should watch this series. I reccomend it! Thanks for reading :D

May as well make a review for this. Maybe someone out there will read this! For such an old series (more than 10 years), Di Gi Charat can actually deliver something... may it be fun and laughter, cuteness or just filling in some spare minutes, as these episodes are only 4-7 minutes long. WEIRD FACT: Di Gi Charat was solely created by Broccoli just to advertise their Gamers store in Akihabara, Japan. There isn't much of a storyline. We have 2 young catgirls: Dejiko (who dreams to become an idol) and Puchiko, and their floating blob Gema decide to land in Akihabara. With no actual place to stay,they get hired to work at Gamers and makes the store their home. The series doesn't exactly have a continuous plot and instead, each episode has their own little plot/storyline. Some are silly, others are wierd... it's pretty random so don't take it too seriously. However there is some sense of continuity as Rabien Rose (a.k.a Usada Hikaru), a side character, acts as Dejiko's rival in terms of becoming idols and they clash quite often. There are also other minor characters who appear every now and then, keeping in touch with Dejiko and the others. This also applies in the other specials of the anime series. Because this was made back in 1999 with almost-to-none professional work, you'll notice how bland the anime is. You got cheaply drawn backgrounds, rough animations and the sounds may be a bit iffy at times. And expect to hear a lot of "Nyo~" and "Nyu~". The only thing that looks detailed are the important characters. Oh, and the OP music isn't too shabby to listen to either. Not much else to say about this. Just that if you got a few minutes to spare/kill before you have to do something else, just watch an episode of this. You won't regret wasting the spare time, but it just may leave you saying "What the hell did I just watch now?"

This is peak fiction, I haven't come across any other anime that can compare to this. The way Di gi Charat is written is genius in that it ascends the general rubric for anime and I had to evaluate it in a way different from any other series. The character designs for Dejiko, Puchiko, and Usada are peak moe and the citizens of akihabara being represented as anthropomorphic thumbs is a great metaphor for how the city is a hub for gamers. The comedy is a great mix of surreal humor and satire. All in all a great show if you're pretty acquainted with anime andlove silly humor.

It is impossible to take Di Gi Charat 100% seriously. Firstly, there is no linear narrative -- each episode is a vignette with the established characters in a new situation (but not necessarily a different setting). And secondly, the script is so insane, the writers were definitely having a riot making this stuff up. There is no mistaking this for a serious entry into the anime records. This was one of the first anime series I watched start to finish as a teenager, and it blew my mind. With only a handful of animes under my belt, I'd seen enough to be very familiar with severalanime cliches (namely melodramatic dialogue and anticlimactic storytelling), and as such, I watched Di Gi Charat with the understanding that it was a satire on the whole genre. I'm surprised to find that it wasn't designed as a satire, but was simply a whacky comedy that employed common anime elements in bizarre situations. But I still watch it and think "yeah, anime IS ridiculous". Each episode would have a different tone from the last, either emulating an action-packed thriller, a supernatural drama, or a melodramatic slice of life, and sometimes even nothing in particular (which was just as hilarious). What also convinced me it was a parody was that the design of characters and animation would suddenly shift into an over-the-top 80's shounen or shoujo style that further punctuated the absurdity. The cast of side characters were all caricatures, that we can all agree on, but I was also under the impression that the three main characters, Dejiko, Petite Charat, and Usada (yeah she hates that name) were also parodies of the "moe" style. The fact that they're sincerely designed characters makes me laugh. Oh, anime! I understand not everyone is as cynical as I am when it comes to anime, so not everyone will see Di Gi Charact as a parody, but I imagine overlooking the moments that could be interpreted as satire would make the show seem kinda bland. Either way, I highly recommend watching this series with friends late at night, as sharing in the confusion will add to the fun.

Di gi charat, I barely know the order to watch the anime so I thought starting from here was good -Story 7/10- Look the story was really nice, and they even added some other fun yet casual elements. Sadly I put a 7 (seven) because we don't see the characters at said shop in every episode, the fact that they're working in a shop feels like a not important detail -Art 8/10- Main characters had pleasant designs. The background characters is what bothered me. Look if I were an alien wo came at planet earth and saw that everyone there was like a bean and I were the onlyhuman looking I would feel uncomfortable -Sound 9/10- The op and VAs are really good, there is no ending, the op is the first 40 seconds of each episode -Character 8/10- The characters don't have a lot of depth, well they have some personality but still they lack some depth. I didn't watch the show in order to see character development so I don't bother -Enjoyment 9/10- The anime is really good if you look for something to binge watch at 3 am. There were quite a few jokes at which personally didn't really laugh. Yes, it was the type of jokes that are ment to fill in the silence -Overall 9/10- Would recomend to someone as a first anime. The style brings nostalgia not gonna lie, The official art is realy good I would recomend taking a look at it. If you're looking for a meaningful show, it ain't here
