Dance with Devils -Fortuna-
Ritsuka Tachibana. She lives a calm and unchanging life. Ritsuka's older brother Lindo returns from studying abroad in the United Kingdom. Shikou Academy student council president Rem Kaginuki calls on the girl, and she begins having mysterious encounters with the student council members. Her life changed a little from that day, but Ritsuka expected nothing more. However, she comes home to find her mother collapsed with suspicious hooded men nearby. They were not human but devils, vampires, and exorcists seeking the Forbidden Grimoire. Ritsuka's former daily life crumbles around her, and she finds herself slowly becoming attracted to Rem, who helps her in her predicament. On the other hand, confusion deepens with regard to her brother who carries a secret. Ritsuka is unsure what path to choose as she finds herself at the center of a love story. (Source: ANN)

What should I say? If you have seen the original Dance with devils anime, then there is no point to watch this film. It's the whole story compressed into one film with most of those damn songs. If you haven't seen the original episodes this does a piss poor job at covering the story, the little it has. So I don't recommend watching this! If you're interested just watch the anime, ignore this, it adds nothing to the whole picture. The visual art and sound is nice, but the characters are so flat that I see no point to this movie at all. As I havesaid, watch the original show, there you get more info about the characters, but since it is based on an otome game, the anime gives little character development. The main heroine is somewhat tolerable, but as I have said the other characters are plain. I believe this is just a means to advertise the actual otome game that it is based on.

Side note: I could not, for the life of me, find this English-subbed, so I watched the unsubbed one currently on Youtube. I feel like I’ve reached a new level of depravity by watching a movie based on an *otome* game without any context or English subs... Anyway... “Dance with Devils: Fortuna” is a 2017 film based on the *otome* game of the same franchise name. The film follows the female heroine Ritsuka, who lives her school life happily until she returns home to find it infiltrated by suspicious men, who turn out to be a group of mythical beings. I have a feeling that I putthis in my “Plan to Watch” list years ago... simply because I thought the theatrical poster looked pretty? (Not gonna lie, Rem looks pretty...) I don’t think I had any idea that this was based on an *otome* game. That being said, the story was very typical of what you see in an *otome* game: Pretty girl finds herself amongst a group of hot dudes, and she doesn’t know who to pick. The characters overall were.... despairingly boring. I think even if I watched the movie with subs, I would still think that the characters would be so void of personalities (and again, playing into the tropes found in most *otome* games). The art, as mentioned previously, was pretty good. Even the fight scenes weren’t bad at all. I also had no idea that there was a musical element to the franchise, and once the characters started singing... I couldn’t take them very seriously... Overall, I didn’t really enjoy this film at all.
