三ツ星カラーズ
Residing within Tokyo's district of Ueno are the Colors, three individuals who protect their city by performing good deeds and aiding their community. Or, at the very least, they pretend to be the city's defenders. In reality, the Colors are just three young girls: the shy Yui Akamatsu, the noisy Sacchan, and the video game-loving Kotoha, who spend their time playing make-believe and exploring the city. The Colors' activities are facilitated by the grandfatherly Daigorou "Pops" Kujiraoka, who uses his store's inventory of knick-knacks to entertain the rambunctious trio. Not everyone is a fan of the Colors though. The local policeman Saitou just wants to deal with his regular duties, but he often finds himself the target of the Colors' attention, having been made the villain in most of their fantasies. But despite his personal feelings, Saitou always finds the time to go along with the three girls' games. Even though the Colors do not actually defend Ueno, they definitely help brighten everyone's day. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Have you ever wondered how your childhood would be like if you were like hyper-active children, going around and creating nonsense antics like doing fake cases of evil and just annoying that figure of evil (whom you perceive IS) and making the world around you a better place through endless adventures? Then this show is for you: another Winter 2018 SoL series, and one of the better ones too that I enjoy tremendously and had good laughs out of it. Mitsuboshi Colors, based off the manga series of the same name, tells the story (WHAT story? It's a SoL!) of 3 "cute girls doing cute things":The red-haired Leader, Yui, whose antics don't follow up to the other Colors members and gets tricked by the others a lot with her cuteness; The yellow-haired Sat-chan, who regards everything as poop, and OMG does she have a wicked sense of sarcasm against the "enemy" Saito, a policeman who's really protecting the city but gets hampered by the Colors' attacks and ends up being savaged by them most of the time. The blue-haired Kotoha, who always has her 3DS with her most of the time: a proclaimed video gamer whose hands don't easily attach from her ALL the time, and seriously hates losing to the point she ravages even to the Colors. Even the other people coming into contact with the Colors (Saito the eternal enemy, Nonoka the savage learner, Daigorou the uncle who owns a rag-tag shop of stuff that the Colors always use) are really enjoyable to watch just from the interaction of the Colors alone, and the thought that the Colors just being naive, savage and their funny sense of rude humor just chuckles the mind, heart and soul. If you have watched Non Non Biyori (by the same studio: Silver Link), expect more of the same art style here, while it's nothing special, it's clear that Silver Link didn't want the artwork as an appealing point of the series, and focuses mainly on the characters to help sell the show. To be honest, I was worried that the sub-par artwork will turn me off from the show, aside from the humorous character development, but it turns out that I was really worried for nothing, as the enjoyment factor outweighs even the biggest of flaws of the show. The sound here might be nothing special, but in all honesty, I really enjoyed what the OST has to offer, ever more so that our main Colors helmed the OP and ED, and have become instant favorites of mine this Winter season. Overall, a seriously underrated show that's not very fanciful, yet doesn't have much to sacrifice for, and a pleasant show to relieve all the days of childhood nostalgia. A recommended watch (as much for a series about kids) and be glad that your best days may be over but through the power of Mitsuboshi Colors, you can relieve them in the utmost funny gag-tone way possible.

Before reviewing, I need to thank all the staff involved in creating Mitsuboshi colors, which is one of the most wholesome, cute and joyful anime ever created. This anime allows us all to experience the heart of children, or fun and privileged of being a child again. It is not a perfect anime, but talking about anime that excels at what they are doing, this anime is a masterpiece. Story: 10/10 The story is about our protagonists, who are three naughty elementary school girls with different personality, formed a team called colors to "protect the peace of the street area" (actually they are just playing around). All the episodes are about events related to the theme of childhood fun, like going to zoo and museum or playing hide-and-seek, which is rarely depicted in anime, and they done it perfectly. Art: 8/10 The choice of art, like the hair colours of the kids, are vivid and distinct, which fit the atmosphere of the show. They borrow the art style of Ichigo Marshimaro for the three little girls, which is one of the most cute, but not sexual way, to draw lolis. This is a brilliant and safe choice, as it tremendously helps people to actually concentrate on the content of the show. This anime still has the traditional "Silver Link problem", which is to have a small budget, which led to the heavy use of simplified art work and still frames and photos. However, they handle this limitation in the least possibly harmful way, it rarely distract the viewers from the experience (the bgm helps a lot). In this respect, other studios should learn take notes from Silver Link in how to make good anime with small budget. Moreover, even with the limited budget, they still try their best to be detail with their art. It is done with the attires, which a lot of people could overlook. Every mother would admit that one of the biggest fun of having children is to dress them. Watching our cute lolis in over 100 different attire combined throughout the series is definitely an additional fun to the series. These are the little things that display the heart of the staff without burning money. Sound: 9/10 BGM, OP and EDs are all outstanding and fitting. I took away one mark because the BGM for the first episode is too loud. It would definitely be fixed on BD release. Voice acting is on point for all of the characters. Character: 10/10 The character is usually the best part of a Slice of Life anime, Mitsuboshi Colors is no exception. The personality and behaviour of Yui, Sacchan and Kotoha are all extremely well-crafted. The author must have spent a lot of time observing kids when creating them. Explaining their characters would involve spoilers, but I would say every one of them has her own "kid's philosophy" to support the way they act, and they are all pure and simple, but not one-dimensional. The rest of the cast are made up of nice people that would play with the kids, which provide a heartwarming atmosphere for the show. The chemistry between them and the policeman Saito is one of the funniest thing of the anime too. Enjoyment: 10/10 Instead of "acting cute" like most moe anime, this anime aim at acting natural, which resembles the cute side of children in real life. This type of cuteness is much more precious in anime, the closest thing is probably Renge from Non Non Biyori, and Ichigo Mashimaro. Mitsuboshi Colours have better comedy (though in sacrifice for the comfortableness) when comparing with the two anime I've mentioned, as it is a story about three naughty kids, not just one Renge or Miu. There are countless hilarious scenes throughout the story, especially in scene that display the way of thinking by children. All in all, I would rate Mitsuboshi colours a 10 out of 10, and hopefully everyone can experience childhood fun once again through this amazing anime.

"Grownups are so busy. We can’t count on them." "Grownups don’t have energy. Kids have energy!" These lines are part of the cheerful opening theme of Mitsuboshi Colors and perfectly exemplify everything this anime is about. Forget about the troubles of your everyday life; it’s time to go outside, find your own adventure and have some fun! What I love about Mitsuboshi Colors is that it perfectly embraces everything that childhood is about. Normally in CGDCT anime you either get to see some sort of glorified moeness or some rather absurdly chilled out atmosphere, but this is different. Not that those two concepts aren’t good mind you, butthey feel very "anime" in the sense that they don’t really represent how young girls actually behave very often in real life. But Mitsuboshi Colors is the opposite. It is much more genuine and basically just showcases kids being kids. It’s blunt, silly, sometimes crude yet very relatable and charming because odds are you can look back on how you used to be yourself as a child and see yourself doing similar kinds of stupid things as the three girls in this anime are doing. In short, Mitsuboshi Colors follows the energetic boke Sacchan who keeps wanting to go on adventures throughout the town, the smug and sadistic game-addict Kotoha, as well as the more reserverd "leader" and tsukkomi Yui. The trio have their own hideout in the form of a cabin in the forest where they hang out and try to come up with new ideas of fun things to do, which usually end up with them going on quests throughout the urban areas, either by their own volition or by pestering some of the shop owners or a local policeman they know into making them give them some fun challenge to complete (or in the case of the latter, they’re often just playing pranks on him too). The series revolves around their silly little adventures and the rather blunt interactions between the characters. It’s cute, but in a realistic sort of way rather than the moe overdose style that CGDCT anime usually tends to do. It’s childish, but oh so enjoyable. If you want a reference point then the closest series I can think of to this would be something like the Yotsubato manga, which is generally praised for more or less the exact same reasons, or arguably even Mitsudomoe to a certain extent. Either way it’s a breath of fresh air amongst the plethora of moe shows that come out every season nowadays, and in my opinion most definitely an anime worth checking out if you’re into slice of life and/or moe series in general. It certainly stands out from the crowd quite a bit.

Do you remember the time when you were a kid? Running around having fun, playing a game with your friends. Having a secret base to hang around after school. No? Well whatever, you might want to see it anyways. Mitsuboshi Colors is an anime about three young girls (in Elementary School) who plays together all the time at the park. They are the "Colors" which they claim to protect the peace of the city. Every episode is filled with them doing something, be it trying to solve problems given to them by people around them (Like Sacchan's Mother) or just having fun playing hide and seek. Theart is bright, clean, and colorful, supported by the upbeat and light-hearted soundtrack to bring about the fun and enthusiastic mood of the girls and overall feelings of the show. They also did a great job managing when to play the soundtrack to help with joke's punchlines and such. For the characters, we have Yui (the Leader of Colors), Sacchan, and Kotoha. Yui is the more normal one. She feels innocent and a bit shy. She is usually not the one to come up with the wacky ideas. Sacchan is the most energetic and cheerful one, always talking a lot and comes up with puns from time to time. Kotoha seems to be the quieter and smarter one, often playing on her DS and usually the one being able to solve the puzzles. What makes these three feels so wonderful to watch is how they are similar to actual children. They don't hold back on what they do or say. Always energetic and finding fun stuffs to do, sometimes bothering the adults around them, doing things you're not supposed to do like going inside a restricted area just because they are curious. Everytime they talk, it sounds just like excitement filled children having fun, making me miss how i felt when i was a kid. The other characters who are adults usually try their best to keep up with the Colors' energy, usually just ending up confused. Some help them have fun by creating a case to solve. Except one though, the security guard Saitou which is usually bothered by the kids. The Colors do things like trying to "defeat" him because the kids make him the antagonist who is the source of all problems in the city. This is a very fun and enjoyable anime to watch. Every episode feels fresh, bringing up your mood with the childish jokes or fun antics the Colors do. I often find myself having to pause watching it to give myself some time to laugh. It also feels different every episode so it doesn't feel repetitive and boring. The anime also doesn't bring up any fanservice, which makes it nice and not awkward to watch. It's a kind where you can just watch kids having fun and being true to their nature which you might somewhat have lost.

Story: 7/10 Three girls created an organisation called "Colors" to fight crime and protect the peace of their town. It's a kid's dream and everyone at one point has wanted to become a hero. Every day, you get to experience the daily life of three girls. It's nostalgic and you get to reminisce your childhood. Art: 9/10 There's good detail to the background, you can see they put a lot of effort in areas where some people wouldn't even focus on. Sound: 6/10 When the soundtrack comes on at certain scenes, it makes you feel really hyped up and excited. Character: 8/10 The characters are so fun,the mischievous kids, Saito, the dad, etc. Every character is so unique and fun to watch. Enjoyment/Overall: 7/10 It does get a bit boring and less interesting every episode. It's cute and fun to watch though, don't get me wrong, but it isn't an anime that I would watch again.
