Anyone who has already seen the first season of Yatogame-chan will have a rough idea of what to expect. However, you do not necessarily need the previous knowledge of the first season to watch this second part. It is a short anime with three minutes each episode and 30 seconds of them are the outro ED song. STORY: As already seen from the first part, the story continues with the city Nagoya. There is no real "story" or plot here, but more or less the city sights and the culture are presented. There are no big connections between each episode, in each one we learn something newfrom the culture there. CHARACTER & ART: The characters are definitely cute and everyone has to love the main girl Monaka. With her cat-shaped appearance, she wins surely every heart. The other characters are also presented in a cute way and you can see they are having fun together as good friends. Some of them are not from Nagoya either, so we practically learn with them about the culture of the city. The animations are no different from the first part. But it's no wonder that Yatogame-chan has actually become the mascot of the city in real life and probably everyone knows her there. SOUND: This short anime doesn't have an OP, but the ED song "Imaginary Love" is quite nicely to listen, definitely fun and enjoyable. It fits very well with the peaceful anime. ENJOYMENT: Tired from work or other things? Not in the mood for an anime with more than 20 minutes at the moment? Or just having a five minute break right now? It all that cases "Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki Nisatsume" is a good choice. Just switch off and relax for a moment, watch few cute girls and learn a little bit about a new city and its culture. Don't expect too much action, but this anime fits perfectly for a short break.

This season wasn't as well done as last season imo, but it wasn't horrible. Last season seemed to have a bit more depth in itself and its characters. This season was more focused on teaching us about certain events, places, and ways of the more southern areas of Japan. Which is fine as this anime is literally geared towards doing just that, but I didn't vibe with the characters as much as I did last season. Which was a bit of a downer if Im honest. If you want to learn about less known areas of Japan in a fun and quirky way thisanime is for you! Its also really cutesy and it can even make you chuckle from time to time! But just dont expect this to be a masterpiece. Its good and at 3 minutes a pop its definitely worth a try! But it wont blow your mind, though it may help keep your worries scattering away for a few minutes. IMO dont knock this until youve tried it <3

It's sometimes easy to forget, as an American, that the different regions in Japan are comparable to different states for all the differences you might find between them. Then I remember that my own state could fit the entirety of Japan inside it's borders and I'm conflicted again on exactly how much a small change in geography can affect culture. I know people see LA and San Francisco as practically different planets despite both being California, but it's hard to imagine Sacramento and Folsom being treated much differently from each other. Yet on another weird level I get it. I totally get the disdain for beinglumped in with a larger city just because it's close by. In general if I tell people I'm from California they assume one of the population centers, and I have a similar reaction to the people in this show who didn't want to be associated with Tokyo. The more I think about it the more I realize that these tiny cultural differences that can be so specific as to be not just a country a state or even a single town, are just another way that all human life manages to be identical in it's uniqueness. We crave the sense of community that comes with belonging somewhere, identifying with foods or activities that can only be found right where we live, yet we're also constantly being thrown into situations where we want to fit in even if it means giving up some of that unique identity. Kind of like when you're watching a show with hyper specific references to a particular region of Japan when you've never lived there yourself, you end up trying to learn as much about it as you can so you can attempt to blend in with the locals. Like, yeah I got all those jokes. Nagoya, am I right? There are jokes that you can appreciate without having to know anything about Nagoya before-hand, but for the most part this is like going to open mic night at a local bar and listening to one guy's hyper specific standup routine that he's basically just delivering to the one or two other people in the audience that he came with. Nothing but in-jokes that will leave everyone else wondering what the heck they're watching. 7/10
