Each episode of the second season of Re:Zero had a corresponding episode in this short chibi series. Essentially, these are short comedy skits with the characters in the chibi style, this is mainly done through Otto's diary as he is writing about the adventures. Even though a lot of people may say the art style is too basic, it needs to be remembered that this is on purpose. Moreover, I would like to point out how clean and smooth the actual animations are - the art style itself is actually of a very impressive quality, even within such a simplistic form. I personally feel like there werenot nearly enough sound effects/music in this. Whilst I am aware that the episodes are only 3 minutes so there is not a lot of time to put them in, it just feels like it is lacking sound other than a doorbell like sound at the start of the episodes and the voice acting. Otto Suewen - A merchant who just couldn't sell his oil, got kidnapped by a cult and saved by the main story protagonist, Natsuki Subaru.

It wouldn't be a re:Zero season without one of these I guess, or should I say, it wouldn't be a popular TV series without one of these, period. Seasonal fatigue is a real thing, and for completionists, it's even more so a curse in the form of a challenge. “Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time 2nd Season” is as its predecessor promised, Chibified commentary over the events of the corresponding season, although, this one spans both parts of season 2, so be careful about spoilers. The first 13 episodes revolve around re:Zero seasons 2 part 1, so it's better you watch it after that and even more criticalto stop at the 13th episode. The 12 last episodes are mainly commenting on part 2 of season 2, some of them even unexpectedly explain critical plot points that were either left vague or undisclosed in the main season which I found as a weird and questionable direction call. I won't be missing this one in all honesty, don't look up to anything spectacular. Govern your expectations and buckle in. Overall: (4/10).

Aaah, Re:ZERO... what a series I had been missing out on! After having watched the first season in less than 2 weeks, I immediately continued on with the second one and boy, was I satisfied! The second season of this work of art is (almost) as amazing as the first. Now knowing all the possibilities of this new world presented to us, we are shown much more character development outside of Subaru himself. I have to say that it's a shame season 2 ends on such an abrupt note, but I suppose every nice thing has an end. I was disappointed that Rem never returnedfrom the state she was put in, but again, the future seasons will probably resolve that issue! I do think season 1 was more enjoyable and it certainly was more of a rollercoaster of emotions, but season 2 really teaches us who our main cast is and why they're involved in this story. Overall I recommend this series to anyone that can handle seeing their favorite characters die... multiple times... Re:ZERO was amazing, and I'm looking forward to season 3 already :)

Before anything else, one thing must be kept in mind: This entire show is a series of shorts in a chibi artstyle. It's a lot more immediate comedy and dialogue focused, so don't go in expecting great fluid action scenes or a big enthralling story out of it. However, the show does just keep going through several POV characters, so there is variety in backgrounds and the like. That said, if you are a fan of re:zero WATCH THIS SHOW. There is some funny in Break Time, but where it really proved outstanding for me was in what it added to the main Re:Zero show, eventhough I binged break time after having already watched the whole second season of Re:Zero first. Break Time's shorts add some context, and more importantly, add some great characterization to the various characters in Re:Zero, including some rather emotional ones or which flesh out characters that might otherwise just come off as 2-dimensional if one only watches the main show. Sound-wise there is occasional music, nothing original though, just stuff taken from the main show and used for comedic or even dramatic purposes. The art is relatively fluid (it is still chibi), with some energetic variation in movements and expressions. Not my favorite thing in the world in terms of enjoyment, but certainly a very worthwhile experience.

Normally I am not a fan of these chibi shorts that anime sometimes do. They usually involve comedy I don't find funny but are short enough to be inoffensive. this usually leads me to score them at around a 5. The shorts this time around, however, are the opposite of what I expected sure they do have comedic elements but they also use them to flesh out characters from the episode the viewer has just watched and they pair really well with them. I found myself looking forward to them after the episode rather than just putting up with them as I do with mostof the time. They are definitely worth a watch alongside season 2 if you are watching it for the first time or are rewatching. I'm not sure I would go as far as to rewatch all of season 2 for them though
