The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup Semifinal
新テニスの王子様 U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL
After the intense quarterfinals, the U-17 World Cup competition has been whittled down to four formidable teams. Standing between Team Japan's quest for international glory is the nine-time tournament champion, Germany, and their star-studded team, pro player Jurgen Borisovich Volk at its helm. With both the momentum and the crowd's favor on the side of their opponents, Japan faces an uphill battle. Determined to avenge an earlier loss, Japan sends seven of their best—including team captain Houou Byoudouin—to challenge the German national team. But trying to reach the finals for the first time in Japan's tennis history may cause even these fearless players to crumble under mounting waves of pressure as they venture into uncharted territories. If you’re an OG Prince of Tennis fan, you already know the drill: suspend your disbelief, embrace the chaos, and somehow, it all becomes watchable. Ever since the introduction of the Tezuka Zone in the original series, this anime has been a glorious middle finger to physics. And if you thought Prince of Tennis couldn’t possibly get any more insane, think again. This anime just shoves it right up your hole and proves you wrong. We’re talking about someone turning into a literal 100 foot giant, player trapping his opponent in time loops to score points, and my personal favorite "GARGANTUA HAIL IN LIBYA," a shotthat somehow unleashes 100 tennis balls at once (like the name suggests, it's a bigass hailstorm on your headtop). Oh, and let’s not forget the dude who perfectly synchronizes his game with a tornado. YES, A TORNADO. At this point, the tennis court feels less like a sport and more like a crossover episode of Dbz and Naruto. If you think you’re Andrey Rublev and came here expecting realistic tennis, well, you’re smashing the wrong racket. But if you’ve ever thought, “What if tennis had superpowers and zero regard for logic?” then this is absolutely yo shit. Just make sure you’ve ran through the however many PoT prequels there are before diving into this madness.

I started watching this anime as a sports anime, but now it doesn't feel like a sports anime anymore. It feels like all the players are Superman, and some Supermans are playing tennis. Every player has not once, not twice, but many methods of playing tennis. There are some good sports anime you can watch other than this. But if you still want to watch The Prince of Tennis, then you can watch the OG one. That one is better than this. Every time Plot Armor saves the Japan Team. While I was watching this season, I wanted Germany to win the match, Because I fed upwith the story. I don't wanna get tortured by this anime.

i think the series is starting to lose it appeal for me. when i started watching the pot series right from the beginning, i know this anime is not the kind of realistic sports anime however it wasn't too bad to watch so i continued watching. but somehow from the start of the u-17 competition, it was getting way over the top for some reason. i wonder if they are trying to "best" the original tv series so the characters' tennis skills or moves have to be more "level up", or they are just running out of ideas so they just produce whatever they canthink of (or it's the manga artist?). either way, i think this season is pretty much a disaster and doesn't make me wanna continue to the next season anymore sadly.
