Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None
勇者パーティを追い出された器用貧乏
"Orn Doula, today will be your last day in the party." Orn, once a skilled Swordsman, had adapted to the role of Enchanter to fill a crucial gap in the Hero Party. However, one day, the party leader abruptly dismisses him, claiming his skills are lacking. Branded a "weakling" and a "jack of all trades, master of none," by his former comrades, Orn is cast out without a second thought. Determined to start anew, he returns to adventuring—this time as a Swordsman, the role he originally excelled in. But his time as an Enchanter was far from wasted. The experience, knowledge, and countless original spells he developed in the Hero Party have forged him into a warrior unlike any other. Now, armed with an unconventional set of skills, Orn is ready to carve his own path—one that will prove his true strength to the world. (Source: MAL News)

Chaning my previous review from "Not recommended" to "Wait for 2nd Season". Yuusha Party wo Oidasareta started weak in a season with no less than 4 shows with "Yuusha" in their titles. Slow pacing and repeating tropes didn't help. Everything changes after chapter 5 or 6. The show abandons the "kicked from Hero's party" standard plot. Without going into spoilers, the MC doesn't exactly grow, but he doesn't mope around either. Sure, the "Jack-of-all-trades is actually a Master-of-everything" is still there, but it's tapered off by his dynamic as a teacher to younger adventurers - which was actually my favorite dynamic of the show - he showshis skills by actually making other characters grow. While I was pleased with the direction the show took, I cannot recommend it right away. The season ended by asking more questions than it answered, in a business that rarely give second chances to struggling shows. So if you hear about a season 2 in the making, go ahead and watch this. Otherwise give it a pass without regret. As for technicalities, it's an OK show. Producers clearly worked around budget constraints by making use of CGI, but it's not bad quality (if you're not a purist, that is). Decent, but forgettable sooundtrack. It won't hurt your ears, but you won't see anyone humming the tunes anywhere either.

Seasonal slop generated by chatgpt after being asked to come up with a fantasy anime. After dumpster diving in the recycled ideas bin, another "backstabbed/kicked out of the strong adventurer party" was slapped together. A cookie-cutter plotline of getting kicked from the group for being deemed worthless, only to either have been the hidden backbone or to unlock their true potential later on. The crew always later realizes they are nothing without him and either remain in egotistical denial or try to get him back. Throw in a bunch of cute girls, and he's got himself a new party that is forever kind and loyal. It's so hardto come up with a main character design when you have to pick between Kirito #380297 or Kirito with Sung Jinwoo's chin. A fit teenage boy with short black hair who dresses in all black and uses a black sword (or dual-wields). If he uses magic, it'll also be in black, and he will be capable of unfathomable levels of ability far exceeding the skill of any adventurer. The ability chants should either be basic descriptive words like Fireball/Lightning Shock, or some random German words. As for his name, hmm let's see, why not choose the worst possible one you can think of? Let's not forget, halfway through the series, a new weapon will need to be forged for our boy and will obviously use an extremely rare and absurdly strong monster's corpse that he slew as the raw material. The stories generally always either have an initial goal that never gets anywhere near completion, with the entire anime serving as the first step in that direction, or get put on hold because of a random subplot that takes up the remainder of the episodes. Sword Art Online has done irreparable damage to fantasy anime. Lazy authors constantly churning out LLM-generated plots as feed for the tasteless viewers that eat up the slop. You would have to lobotomize me to get my brain functions low enough to enjoy these shows.

Story There was definitely potential here, but the execution fell off hard. Like every other show in this genre, the MC gets kicked despite being OP, but then he solos a "final boss" level threat right in the middle of the season. After that, the story just stops moving. There’s no momentum and zero consequences for his actions—he defeats a massive threat and then we just watch him do nothing. The side characters are completely forgettable, and the city feels bland and shallow. Every person he meets feels like a typical, scripted NPC rather than a real character. Visuals It’s not tragic, but it is incredibly mediocre. Thecharacter designs feel recycled, like you’ve seen these exact same faces in ten other series already. The magic effects are equally lazy; it’s usually just a colored circle followed by a generic explosion animation we’ve seen a thousand times before. Every visual aspect of this anime feels like it was copied and pasted from a "generic fantasy" template. Conclusion Is it worth watching? Honestly, unless you are a die-hard fantasy fan who needs to watch everything in the genre, I’d skip it. It’s not remarkable in any way, and the lack of stakes or character depth makes it a pretty boring experience overall.

Jack of all trades, master of none. But better then master of one. That is at least what the saying is, and it can be somewhat compared to the show. In this anime do we follow Orhun, an adventurer who is kicked out of the hero’s party, and he then decides to go on without them. We then see him face new challenges and meet new friends, while his old group is suddenly realising what he brought to the table. They also show a hint of what the greater world has to it, with them introducing a bigger and evolving plot. The plot of the show isdecent, with them following the trope of someone being removed from the party and then showing how they were the cornerstone of the party. It also brings in other groups and builds towards expanding the world, thereby making the ground work for a more in depth plot. But the big issue with the plot is how predictable it is, you know what the outcome of the conflicts are, before they are resolved, which loses a lot of the excitement there could have been. They do try to make some twists and surprises, but they don't really hit as they should, leaving the plot fairly decent, but predictable, leaving a lackluster feeling as the viewer. When it comes to the characters, they are in a very similar situation as the plot, with them being decently made, but again predictable. The main character is on the surface very simple and is exactly what you expect when you see him. They do give him a bit more interesting background, but it feels like it misses details to actually being something interesting and unique. Looking at the other characters, there is an okay variety in the characters, and some of them do have a nice background story, but they are only briefly shown. So the rest of the characters are also easy to read and barely bring something unique, and only fills the role you expect them to do. The characters therefore match the plot, but is not something that elevates it, and once again leaves the show being decent. Production quality of the show is interesting, for the design is simple and very classic fantasy. But the animation is what is a bit unique, since they use classic 2D animation, but also 3D animation for some of the more motion intense scenes. For the 2D animation it is very simple, with not too much detail, but it gets the job done and performs again decently. The use of 3D animation is something people either like or dislike, but what it does for the show is make the combat more interesting to watch, since it does give more life to the animation compared to the non 3D animation scenes. So we have the common 2D animation for the relaxed scenes and 3D for the action scenes, which in the end probably increased the production value of the show. Overall the show is decent, it delivers an okay story, with characters matching it and an animation that is slightly better than the rest. So if you just want something easy to watch, with no thoughts needed, I can recommend the show, but most of the time I would recommend you watch something else.

You know, I wasn't gonna look into this series despite a title that might be a hidden gem. Except when it comes to social media that says that this is good. Well, it tempts me enough to give it a watch. Hell, it's an original IP that's based on a light novel series then turned manga, and I like checking out new IPs for the fun of it. After going through with it, I think it has potential yet it fumbled with so much that it was underwhelming. Just a heads up, there will be some light spoilers. The story isabout this adventurer named Orhun Dula, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, who was betrayed by his childhood friends and cast out of the hero team that was led by that same childhood friend, Oliver Cardiff, voiced by Yoshiki Nakajima. They brand him as the "Jack-of-all-trades, master to none." First of all, that's pretty lame since having multiple skills is a blessing. But arrogance can make the worst of some folk. So Orhun goes solo to forge a new path as a solo adventurer while putting his skills to use such as a mix of swordsmanship, magic, and applying multiple buffs onto himself and others. That catches the attention of the Night White Rabbits clan and invites Orhun to join the clan to be a valuable asset. That sparks his development to new recruits, including this enchanter who thinks highly of his skills named Selma Clodel, voiced by Saori Onishi. Orhun goes through the series by connecting with these new recruits as well as forming rivals with his childhood friend, and later finding out about another childhood friend who shows up later in the show. A simple story when you have Orhun going into the Great Dungeon to teach new recruits such as Selma's half-sister, Sophia, voiced by Hina Tachibana, Logan Hayward, voiced by Yo Taichi, who looks down on Orhun for being kicked out of the Hero's Party until seeing him in action, and Caroline Inglaud, voiced by Mangaka Iwami, who had more to her past than being a cheerful and reckless tank with high mobility. There's also Luna Flockhart, voiced by Masumi Tazawa, who was also formally in the Hero's Party but left after the humiliation the Hero's Party had received when trying to fight the Black Dragon. Followed by this girl named Shion Nasturtium, voiced by Akane Fujita, who is also Orhun and Oliver's childhood friend who is part of this organization who are known for attacking adventurers to prevent them from conquering the dungeons who seek out Orhun because of some prophecy involving this Dragon Slayer. I wish I would tell more, but that would mean more spoilers. There are more character introduced, but I wouldn't invest in them too much. I don't think the story is that bad with how it's simply dungeon crawling as Orhun is getting used to his new family. However, what pulls the story back is how one-dimensional most of these characters are. Most of them are just forgettable at times as some are irritating enough that you'd just wanna punch them in the face. (Looking at you, Oliver). Plus, there are some plot holes, especially at the end of it, that probably needs more explanation. Because I question what the hell they were talking about while rolling my eyes. Orhun is just the most okay for what his character is like, being the jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. Again, it's bad that you would kick someone out who can do a lot. But I digress. Also, is it just me or does Orhun look eerily similar to Kirito from Sword Art Online? Not to mention, he gets a new sword later in the show that looks like one of Kiritio's swords. I might be overthinking here. Character development is paper thin along with their interactions. The character designs are a hit-and-miss with how they are as you would see from other fantasy shows. I could say the same for the monsters that lurk in the dungeons as you'd see in fantasy shows. Then you have this Black Dragon that looks so janky given how it was made with CG. It's not as terrible as Tio in dragon form in Arifureta's first season. But not as impressive as how you'd see Orange Studio's animation between Beastars and Trigun. The highlights with the animation are when the buffs and magic were being cast except that the action is kinda watered down. At times, it wants to be flashy, yet it doesn't shine as much as the magic that was cast during their dungeon crawling adventures. Animation studio42 did okay when it comes to making the animation. The voice acting is okay for how their performance goes. The script doesn't do them any favor, unfortunately. I know there is an English dub, except after going through this show in Japanese, I don't see myself watching this again. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets greenlit for a second season given how there are some unanswered questions in the final episode. Oh, and I also wanted to point out that it isn't just Orhun who gets to interact with the side-characters. For they also have their own time alone in some humorless moments. I rolled my eyes every time a joke was being made and wanted the plot to get back on track. I also can't help but think of Orhun having some moments when a romance can be formed. Except that they were pretty bare bones as the characters are when, again, they are one-dimensional with their given character traits. In a fantasy world of dungeon crawling, a man who is a jack-of-all-trades finding a new home while honing his skills, dealing with cults and adventure killers, this anime has some potential. However, it doesn't really explore well with how there are some plot holes and characters that are just as one-dimensional as their given class. It's forgettable for what it's worth and might have a fanbase of its own. Just not for me when there are better fantasy shows out there. I'm going to give this jack-of-all-trades dungeon crawling adventure four Kirito lookalike buffing out of ten. 4/10. (Great, have I started to think of this becoming a meme like the ol' Buffsuki meme? If y'all know, ya know).
