Kaito Kid revolutionized the art of theft. He steals priceless gems in front of the police’s face like a magic show. The police hate him, but the people love him. He is glamorous in his ways of stealing. Brilliant entrance! Brilliant escape! The police aren’t dumb, but they get played like fools by Kaito Kid. Kaito Kid is the magician of the sky. Watch Magic Kaito and see what a great thief is like.

Dude if I could have half the flair this boy has, I'd be living the good life. Lupin may have walked so Kaito could run, but man is this boy RUNNING. It's no wonder he's become one of the most popular characters in the Detective Conan universe. This set of OVAs covers different chapters in the Magic Kaito manga with some pretty spectacular animation at certain times. There's at least one scene that always sticks with me as one of the best instances of overchoreography done right. Some minor details may be changed from the manga, but it usually gives the plot some more pizazz oris barely noticeable. If you're looking to watch an adaptation of Magic Kaito and don't know where to start, I would recommend watching this first before 1412. I personally found this iteration more stylish and enjoyable, even if some of the minor changes weren't my cup of tea. I also just think it's funny that Kaito and Shinichi look near-identical, as well as Ran and Aoko. I'm sure that was intentional and is even used as a plot point at times, but hey, that's a good way to respond to "same face syndrome" in my book. Overall? Very enjoyable adaptation. If you're not familiar with Conan, I feel you can watch this just fine, even if some references to its plot aren't recognizable to you. It can just about stand on its own as a story.

Overall: 6.85 / 10 Introduction: We are before the first of the 2 animations that the great Kaito Kid received and in this case the work is by the TSM studio and that was carried out between 2010 and 2012 in a "Special" format, But First of all there is to clarify that we start from the base that this is a work with a lot of "fantasy" in between, and I do not see it reasonable to start falling with a lot of meaningless scenes where no type of "physical" logic is applied and take it from a strictly analytical role. Story: 7 The plot starts from anaccident of our protagonist who falls into the lair of his father, the real "Kaito Kid" and begins to investigate his past and his disappearance, therefore he decides to take on his role as a new Kaito Kid and reveal the secrets behind the mask. During the program they introduce new characters that contribute in a certain way to its development, although once they are already introduced in the story they begin to lose their weight, and although the plot seeks to focus on working on the "disappearance of their father", for several moments "SoL" becomes very kind of solving "the robbery on duty" but we agree that this is not bad at all, but I feel pleasant how the 2 branches are combined. The real problem that I do notice is that towards the end of the anime that does not try to express anything explicitly in concrete. Since the pace of the last chapters becomes much higher in content and obtains less in the development of them, so that finally in the epilogue they imply as if everything were just one more chapter, and continue the following week when never it will truly happen. Art: 8.5 / Sound: 6 As for the artistic staging, I stick with the character designs and movements that felt fluid and comforting. In terms of music, I liked the EDs aurally but both these and the OP are adapted from Detective Conan himself, but I'm wrong, since I only observe some mini moments that Kaito Kid receives from them and maybe I would have liked them to give him one true Original opening and closing of the program. Characters: 5 This one of the sections that I have some confusion since the show raises many rivals or companions after Kaito, but taking their presentation moment they feel that they do not really contribute anything to the program, and it is quite summarized to "Kaito and his rival / partner on duty "and even our own protagonist does not flinch too much during the process of the program and under no circumstances does he obtain significant growth as a magician or person. Perhaps the only ones who manage a certain change during it are Akako and Hakuba with small brush strokes. But being honest, the characters closest to Kaito such as the Inspector or Aoko herself are only seen repeating the same actions throughout the program until exhaustion. Enjoy: 7.75 This adaptation feels very nice, the idea of the "thief magician" that arises from the detective conan himself comes to life and gives a satisfactory show from the personal in a certain way, but at the same time bittersweet being that I could have expected more from some of its sections specific. I suppose that if someone wants to see a relatively short anime that combines some adventure / romance, they are in the right place because it is precisely what the show has to offer, as long as you do not forget that at the same time it can become a repetitive anime even at the end.
