I am writing this review because I don't think the other two reviews fully justify the whole point of this episode. Now this is my first review so I hope it doesn't go too badly. I'm not asking you to revere this episode for its plot and character progression, but I'm asking you to just enjoy it for its comedic value and lightheartedness, especially in the moments where the OVA satirized some anime tropes. Besides, this is an OVA released after the ending of the first season of Mondaiji. Meaning we aren't going to get some epic fight that would pursue the plot of helping theNo Name community regain its prosperity. The title even has "おんせん" (hot spring) in it so expect some light comedy and fan service. The primary point of this episode is to show that life moves on (in the event that a second season wouldn't be created) and it has successfully done so in my eyes.

Considering how much I personally enjoyed the main series itself, when I heard about this OVA, I was looking forward to it. I expected to see the cast solving a gift game with the same suspenseful, yet somehow comedic feel of the main series. Instead, I was met with a HUGE amount of fan-service that seemed to be the main focus of the episode. I mean, I expected at least one battle scene. Story: (3) Comparing the story and plot of this episode to the main series makes me cringe. While the main series had an objective and reasonable plot devices, this lacks it all. TheOVA is filled with absurdly perverted scenes that seem out of place and irrational, along with stock "bad guys" for the introduction. Those "bad guys" don't even end up playing a significant part in the rest of the episode, and their only purpose seems to be to show off the ability of the main cast. If you were to watch five minutes of the middle portion, it would be nearly impossible to guess what the main characters' objectives are, considering that the episode was filled with almost nothing but fanservice. Art: (6) Although the close-up looks of the characters seems to be the same quality as always, static images and re-used frames are easy to notice. The voices are not synced with the mouths as they were during the main series, and the stock villains during the beginning look absolutely terrible. The producers would have fared better if they used dark silhouettes. I'm not sure if this was due to budget problems, but it seems so. Sound: (9) Thankfully, the sound quality hasn't changed from the main series, and You's character song can be heard in the background during one portion. It may have been the first time I've heard it in a Mondaiji episode, but it really fit the mood and tone of the situation quite well. Character: (8) The new characters in the OVA are forgettable, at best. The characterization of the others is done quite well, and the focus is shifted off of Izayoi for once. You's mischievous nature is highlighted, as well as her insatiable appetite, and Ayesha can be seen to be more competitive, but in a less obnoxious way. The other characters don't get too much characterization opportunities, but this is fine, considering the amount of attention they received during the main series. Enjoyment: (4) Let me just say this now. I HATE fanservice. It detracts from the main story, and in this episode, the producers seemed to say, "Hey, you know what the main series didn't have? Fanservice. Let's try and fill an entire series' worth of it in this episode then." Regardless of the fanservice in this episode, some parts were still quite enjoyable, like the characterization moments. It was a lot of fun finding out more things about their personalities, and also watching them clear the games with each other. It would be a lot more enjoyable without the fanservice, but hey, that's just me. Overall: (6) The OVA doesn't do justice to the main series. The only reason the OVA didn't get a worse score is because of the things is could get from the main series, like the OP, ED, and most of the characters. Everything else, including the story and art, seems to be much lower quality.

Ok, so I've just finish this single ep OVA. I must say that this OVA qualifies as a misplaced episode of the parent anime "Mondaiji," so everything about it was the usual except for the fanservice that we never get to see from the parent anime. It was still disappoint, thought that there is no Kurousagi's panty shot and most of it was limited to a school swimsuit fanservice, though, there is that fundoshi fanservice which was limited to a few seconds, man, why didn't studio Diomedea made Kurousagi to be in a bikini instead of being in a one piece swimsuit, shewould have look hotter? So my ratings for each of this anime's category: Story: mediocre 5. Since, the plot maybe a bit different, but it still follows the parent anime's genre. Art: fair 6. Thought, the addition of the fanservice is good, it ain't that intense, co'z there is no Kurousagi panty shot and the boob flash ain't much. Sound: mediocre 5. Co'z it still uses the same VA's and the same op and ed theme. Character: mediocre 5. Very obvious. Enjoyment: fair 6. Like I said, the fanservce especially the school swimsuit part was good, it's just wasn't that intense, even with the girls fundoshi fanservice. Thought, it was nice to see Izayoi doing his thing. Overall: mediocre 5. Pretty much a misplaced filler episode, unless this OVA is an introduction for a season 2 of the parent anime, but, we have yet to know if there will be one.

The OVA is a nice little ending to the first season. As with most OVA the point isn't for it to have a big plot or follow on from/lead to anything, it's simply for comedy and enjoyment. To put a light ending on the following season. It did it's job. The OVA is funny and enjoyable to watch. You get the quirks from each character and get to enjoy little things about them and events that are happening. With some of it you wonder how there's not Ecchi in the genre, because it should definitely be there. Overall it's worth watching to top of the first season, it's justone episode so it's not much, but it's enough to enjoy.

The main part of this review is in 2 parts; first is written specifically for the OVA and the second is a snippet from my review of the main series with 1/2 tweaks. After that there's an explanation for the scores I went with for the OVA compared to the main series but you're probably only here for one of the main parts so feel free to skip that if you want. It's a good OVA and it's existence itself is fan-service to fans of the anime with the usual "fan-service" added to it. I'd honestly love to get more anime of this series but as that'svery unlikely to happen at this point one last "hoorah" for these characters will have to suffice. If you like to watch your favourite maidens pestered by the usual "fan-service" OVAs tend to offer then you're in luck as there's not just one gimmick but a whole bunch of them including milk, school swimsuits, melting clothes and more. Again, I'd love for it to have been more actual plot rather than "plot" but beggars can't be choosers... (I myself don't really want to see my favourite girls being pestered like so but this is what you have to deal with in the anime community...) Oh, and just in case you're wondering you will need to watch the main series unless you're some kind of barbarian that's only in it for the ecchi scenes. Now onto the tweaked snippet (if the above was enough for you then you don't need to read this): This is your fairly standard fan-service OVA which was bundled with volume 7 of the light novel shortly after the anime aired. It includes a surprising number of fan-service "gimmicks" including milk, clothes in the process of being removed, school swimsuits along with ones that are similar to school swimsuits, melting clothes and more. It has it's own mini-story/competition independent of the main 10 episode anime but requires you to have watched them as certain abilities, characters and whatnot are present that come into play throughout so unless you just want fan-service and won't watch the anime or don't mind being spoilt you should watch it after finishing the main series. As for the scoring (seen on MyAnimeList but not here on AniList); Unlike the main series I've given everything EXCEPT for the story and enjoyment an 8 whereas everything in the main series for an 8. Story because it's your usual "fan-service" OVA BUT it does have it's own story/plot even if it is just to allow for the "fan-service" scenes. The enjoyment gets a 7 instead of an 8 because "fan-service" 'isn't really my tea of choice' as I'd much rather have more plot or developments.
