ガイ 妖魔覚醒
Guy is just one of those misunderstood, lovable fellows who just happens to be one of the nastiest soldiers of fortune you've ever seen... and his partner is worse! They could be, however, the only thing that can battle Dr. Vail and breathe afterwards! (Source: AniDB)

Guy: Double Target is labeled as a hentai title, but in reality it is a badass sci-fi action series. Guy and Reina are treasure hunter/thieves on the lookout for a big score. The two part series covers two separate adventure stores where we get to see Guy kick ass and take a few names. In episode one, Guy and Reina head to a galactic prison to search for the formula for an eternal youth formula created by the infamous Dr. Vail. What they find instead is a planet that fights back and some nasty monsters to play with. The second episode sees our heroessetting their eyes on a golden statue that is controlled by a powerful religious sect. When they infiltrate the holy sanctum they find out that there are strange powers at work and must fight with the heads of the religious order for their lives. This title reminds me a lot of Daiakuji. Both have strong male leads that always seem to be in control of their situations and don't take crap from anyone. From bending steel bars to crushing his enemies arms to a bloody pulp bare-handed, Guy shows he is a man of action and not someone to mess with. When he gains a strange new power he becomes an even bigger badass as well. As for the hentai content, there is not much of it, and that content is pretty tame (but well done). This is all about the story and the H content is just thrown in to spice things up a little… in fact the story is good enough that they could have left that content out completely and it would not be missed. If anything, be warned that this series can get bloody, gory and violent, and may not be for the fainter hearted folks. This series is from the late eighties and early nineties, and the artwork reflects that time period well. This is a quality cell animation series, and the production company did a great job of not cutting corners. The series is available in its original Japanese as well as having dub versions available. I personally liked the English dub. So to sum up, if you are looking for a hentai title, go elsewhere since you won't find much satisfaction here. If you are looking for a hard-core action anime that really delivers, then you do not want to miss this one. I give this one a hefty recommendation!

A two-episode OVA series that, for reasons that eludes me, is not very well known or appreciated. Guy is one of those anime that belong to the late ’80s and early ’90s trend characterized by violence, action, and in this case also erotic content. Although it is labeled as hentai, in reality such material is limited (mostly concentrated in the first episode), albeit well animated and of decent length. This is absolutely not a negative aspect; on the contrary, it enriches a product that, from a storytelling standpoint, would otherwise have little to offer, given that each of the episodes run for about 30 minutes. Thedirection is by Uchida Yorihisa, who has mainly worked on minor productions and not very consistently over the years. All things considered, however, he does a good job, also thanks to the storyboard being entrusted to the much better-known Oobari Masami (Bubblegum Crisis, Soukihei MD Geist, Tatakae Iczer-1, AD Police, and many others). The two main characters, Guy and Reina, are decidedly charismatic and well characterized, making them enjoyable despite being stereotypical in their roles as space fortune hunters. Episodes 1 and 2 are also sufficiently different in terms of themes and action to justify watching them without boredom. An OVA series that entertains and that, in my opinion, would have benefited even more from a series of at least five or six episodes. Animation could have been better, but overall I've definitely seen worse and it quite fits the style and scope of the production. Want to have a fun, bite-sized adventure with a sprinkle of space opera and steamy scenes? Well, Guy's got you covered! Story: 1/2 Direction: 1/2 Animation: 1/2 Characters: 1.5/2 Music: 1.5/2 Bonus points: 1/2 Final score: 7/10
