I got into anime when I was 12 years old in 1992. Back then, it wasn't so easy to come by anime titles in the United States, as the medium hadn't gained much attention and fans were few. I was browsing through the limited titles at a comic shop when I came upon Urotsukidouji 4: Inferno Road. I asked my mom to buy it and a few other titles for me. Sure, there were some explicit warning labels covering the box, most notably covering the parts of the box that would have led me to realize what it was I waspurchasing, but my mom was pretty liberal and progressive and allowed me to watch violence, so we assumed it wouldn't be a big deal. So, like any kid with new anime, I went home and tore through each new video that I had purchased that day. A 12 year old can't unsee tentacle rape. Urotsukidouji is purely exploitative porn. There's no quality to the animation, no detail to visual or audible effects, no attention to character development, no fully developed plot even; it's just an excuse to get female characters into situations where they are going to get raped... a lot and in the most grotesque fashion possible. How then can I even review such a title? Do I review it as an anime, or a rape porn video? If the former, than there is no review score negative enough for such a wreck of a title, but if the latter then I hold no knowledge of which to possibly evaluate such vile and exploitative media. So, not a very good anime and probably not a very good buy for a child, but perhaps a good piece of demented masturbatory fodder, though I wouldn't consider myself qualified to speak in regards to that matter.
