One word review: REDUNDANT Halfway through a 12 episode single cour first season, one simply does not need a recap episode, especially not one that adds no new or revisited material and hardly has any editing. The material recapped is included exactly as shown in the original six episodes, and no narration is provided to further elaborate on the events or even highlight them. Also, the recap has little potential for newcomers to the series, as it covers only a small amount of material, than can easily be caught up. At the same time if, in the future, a second season is made and someone wants, for whateverreason, skip the first entirely, a recap of “only” half of it, is not going to suffice. Placed at the end of the season, or before the finale, it might have served some purpose, but as it is now, it is just filler. This recap’s art, characters, etc., are up to standards, in fact they are exactly the same as in the first six episodes of the series, which in fairness were rather good. However, overall I can not but give this recap the lowest possible rating.

If you've been following the series, you don't really need to watch this, think the second half of Evangelion: Death and Rebirth, it was the first half of End of Evangelion, this is basically the same, its the first half of the series, but they've cut bits out and just kept the main aspects of the story and cut out some of the action scenes and the stuff that wasn't really important. If you've been told to try the series and don't mind missing some small details, then you could just watch this then start from episode 7, or if you enjoy the show and wanta quick recap, otherwise there's nothing really of value. If you've just come here, wondering if its for you then I'd recommend watching episode 1, it starts off showing you historic events then leads in to the present day, it has a fair few fighting scenes (at least 1 every episode so far if my memory serves well), some scenes with some light humour and there's a load of religious influences, such as having Greek gods, references to the bible and even Joan of Arc. I'd personally recommend it if you're a fan of RPGs, as to me it has a kind of Final Fantasy crossed with Breath of Fire (mostly 3) feel, leaning more towards Breath of Fire.
