Taking place 30 years after the events of the original Youkai Watch TV series. There was once a 11 year old boy named Keita Amano who held a wristwatch that could command Youkai, he would make friends with the Youkai and fulfill a great many deeds. But when the boy grew up, he lost his ability to see Youkai. And as for the wristwatch that could control Youkai, its existence threatened to disturb the balance between human and Youkai worlds, so it was cast away into oblivion beyond time and space. Soon ... the story of the Youkai controlling wristwatch became but a legend. But then, something took place after many, many years had passed ... an epidemic Youkai virus known as Onimaro started affecting people with malevolent intentions and is spreading indefinitely, turning them into Kaodeka Oni and causing chaos throughout the city. Honestly, the worst (anime) movie I've ever seen. Yo-kai Watch definitely deserved much better than this. Of course I understand why they made the movie, since the fans who watched Yo-kai Watch from the beginning have grown up, and it was time to give that basic formula a makeover. But this movie manages to fail at everything, and it doesn't even manage to be competent. The story is confusing and meaningless, full of unnecessary retcons, just to make new things make sense (Something that failed miserably). The characters are boring (especially the protagonist), the villain is very poorly used, consequently horrible. Saying this as someone who wantsto see a good movie, this is a horrible movie, and I felt disrespected, but saying this as a long-time fan of this franchise. And if you're looking for something decent to watch, go watch something else.
