The Young Imperial Guards
少年锦衣卫
In Ming dynasty, legend goes that there is an ancient deity's book covering a wide range of technical issues, including the unique method of manufacturing the weapons of deity, which has the power to destroy everything. He who gets that book rules the entire nation. Reportedly, in ancient times, deity made the royal family keep the book, as a sign of acknowledging their ruler-ship. However, in Yuan dynasty, the Mongolians invaded the central plain and ruled the nation. There was chaos everywhere and the book which was supposed to be enshrined in the Imperial Palace was somehow missing and reappeared in the outlaw societies, luring lots of forces to fight for it. When Han people regained the ruler-ship in Ming dynasty, though the deity's book was found back and enshrined in the Imperial Palace again, those outlaw forces already knew that the book was more than just a legend! It did exist! So they plotted to steal it out. There are there most famous robbers in the outlaw societies: Hell-fire monk, Hua Daochang the thousand-face fox and Duan Yun in white. One day, on the ghost festival, they sneaked into the Imperial Palace, trying to steal the most precious treasure, competing for the title of "the most famous robber." At last, the hell-fire monk stole the deity's book. The emperor founded the Imperial Guards to serve as his personal bodyguards and imperial secret polices and spies, among whom, there was a young and inexperienced guard—Yuan Xiaotang, the hero of this animation. The emperor demanded the Imperial Guards catch the three robbers and find back the book. That's how the story begun! (Source: CA Fansub)

Please note that I will mention spoilers in this review. This story starts with three thieves entering int competition to see who can steal the most precious thing from the city, And the first season plays out as a fairly typical Shonen, as our protagonist gets involved in trying to solve the crime and get revenge for his father. But season two is a complete mess, with new sub plots being added every episode, characters doing things for poorly explained reasons and NOTHING getting resolved. But surprisingly, the show's not all bad. The two main characters are very well written, The male protagonist doesn't follow the typicalShonen tropes of going through a sudden improvement in skill. He starts out as slightly above average, and is all he is. And he doesn't attract the attention of the girl by rescuing her or by his skill, but by being considerate. Overall, the show is watchable, if only for the characters. Sadly, it is probably one of the best Chinese anime currently out there.

The story is okay and the animation is good ( it’s not a masterpiece but it’s enjoyable). I really enjoy because it’s characters. The two main characters are great because they seem like actual humans because they deal with problems your can related. They chemistry as a couple is really good, they have good moments but also bad moments but they work thru them and they are always there for each other. i specifically like the police officer and female thief because they brought comedy into the show which was great, at the beginning, the female thief felt like she was going to be justanother villain but as the story progress, I really enjoy her interactions with the other characters as they had some of the funniest scenes. The show is definitely enjoyable tragically there is only two season, the studio went bankrupt so not hopes for a third season.
