Completely unnecessary recap in a super slow-paced and uneventful anime. Was painful to watch. Sure, Art and everything is good - since all the scenes where from previous episodes - with the only addition of eventual commentaries from Kirito. If this was an anime with a complex/deep plot, or even with a medium to fast pacing, this recap episode could be useful. But in a show where you can summarise everything that happened so far in three to five sentences - what Kirito does in the first minute of the next episode - it is completely unnecessary. If you didn't decide to come back to SAO Alicization after monthswithout watching, don't watch this episode.

Alright pals. It's not a really bad recap episode but well, I expected very much and I'm kinda disappointed. It's pretty much just a mix of everything that happened and... that's it. There is nothing more, nothing less. So obviously it's a "recap episode" so I should have expected that but... you know... I'm sure A-1 could have done things better. So obviously the art and sound is as great as ever, the story in itself is pretty good and more original than the last season, it's more deeper and I had a hard time understanding cardinal's story which is a good thing. that being said, this recapepisode was just boring. It should have been more original like the Kill la Kill recap episode (it's amazing, watch it LOL). So there it is.

At this point, hating on recap episodes must be a universally adapted circlejerk, and it's definitely annoying sometimes. This recap, or, for better words, recollection is a retelling of what happened from the start of the season from Kirito's perspective, recapping both us and Alice on the fast-paced tale of Alicization thus far. I really like the chronological drive for this episode, it makes sense from a storytelling perspective and it does what it set up itself to be, definitely the best recap episode in the series so far. I guess the episode stands out more like a recap for Alice than for as though, it focuses heavily,to quite entirely on what happened inside of the fluctlight machine, so we get to see nothing prior to that, as much as it excels at recapping the simulation, it is not per see the recap to go with, as far as recaps go.

Completely unnecessary. As Kzariar already commented in his review, this "special" has absolutely nothing special about it; in the end, it's just a recap. It's literally a collage of scenes that the viewer saw very recently. It's very clear that the only reason for this episode's existence is to give the production team another week off to finish episode 19. And look, it's understandable that scheduling problems happen in the anime industry; that's nothing new. But understanding doesn't mean accepting it. This type of decision completely breaks the rhythm of the work and disrespects those who are following it weekly. The biggest problem isn't even the existence ofa recap, but how it's done. There's no creative effort here: no new perspective on the story, no different narration, no relevant extra scenes, not even a more polished edit to justify revisiting it. It's simply recycled content thrown in there to fill space. And honestly, using the excuse of "production problems" doesn't convince the viewer. Planning is part of the job, and when it fails, the audience pays the price. An episode like this in the middle of an arc completely cools down the excitement, especially for those who were involved with the story's progression. My rating of 3 is still generous, and only exists because of the technical aspects like animation, voice acting, and sound effects, which remain good, but that's not a real merit here, since we're talking about reused scenes from the anime itself. Still, within the SAO universe, there are worse things (like the "Sword Art Offline" specials), so it's not the bottom of the barrel. Overall, it's a completely dispensable episode. It adds nothing, doesn't truly entertain, and only disrupts the rhythm of the work. You can skip it without any fear; you won't miss absolutely anything.
