Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Eternal Movie 1

So the dream arc is my favorite story arc of sailor moon. I even adore the supers adaptation of it. The first movie does an excellent job of adapting the begining of the dream arc. It has beautiful animation and character designs, a beautiful soundtrack with some nostalgia thrown in and a fantastic story. So the dream arc is generally considered as a fluffy and fun, light interlude to the stars arc where things get extremely dark. As a result the story is less serious and offers some backstory and world building, highlts the individual guardians, with this firts movie focusing on the inners and offerssome fun character fanservice (not the lewd kind). Each guardian gets a chance to shine against the dead moon circus and pices of their past and dreams are revealed. It's basically what crystal was lacking do to its pacing problem, cuts and bad changes. If you love the inner guardians, you'll love the content this movie offers. Alas, for all this movie does right, it's tight run time hinders it. The film goes by at a rapid pace. You'll want to give it your full attention so you don't miss anything. Sadly the movie, much like crystal cuts some fun moments, as well as some backstory and explanatory content. If your left slightly confused by anything, I encourage you to give the manga a read to fill in the blanks. My honest oppinion though is that you'll comprehend everything fine. For example, I believe this will be the first time in crystal we see Rei's grandfather. Which is rather tragic considering he was supposed to have appeared at least once before. For those of you who are familiar with the 90's anime, the manga grandpa is quite different in both design and personality. Sadly Rei's arc also slightly suffers from not having had Cassablanca memories adapted into either anime story. It's a side story that greatly expand on her background and character. It would offer a little context to the information we're given in this movie for her background. For those of you wondering, Helios and chibiusa are portrayed excellently here. Their romance is truly a highlight and a personal favorite of mine. The old anime dragged out his reveal for far too long but the dream arc quickly reveals him to be a young boy and not a horse. Hopefully this will appease those who took issue with their romance in the old anime. Id also like to point out that both him and chibiusa are centuries old, but in the bodies of a 10 year old and 13 year old (give or take a year or 2). Just want to shut that discussion down fast. Now the soundtrack, anyone feeling nostalgic should definitly watch the credits. An update on Baby baby love plays after the first song. If you want those 90s chibiusa x Helios feels give it a listen. Then go on youtube and search sailor moon love is in ny heart for the english dub version. The original singer recently uploaded some clean performances for it and a few other songs she did. I also encourage you to check out the official sound track of the movie. It has some great character songs like Minako's I want to be an idol and a duet between chibiusa and Helios. I'll see you over on part 2. Eternal is an anime that looks good when you look at some still shots and the trailer. The animation is still choppy but with some average improvements here and there. It does not have the power to outshine a lot of modern counterparts in this respect. So someone who has not read the manga would likely drop this within the firs 10 minutes. This arc was more interesting in the manga, this looks like a vanilla adaptation, everything is serene, no impending sense of doom or scary villains, they all come across as non-threats to our main characters The funny scenes are very underwhelming, Ican't pinpoint if it's the VA or the animation. The music is atrocious, bland chorus music mixed with some random guitar (composer used to be in a rock band so that would explain it) but it really REALLY does not in any way shape or form fit the atmosphere or story of Sailor Moon. Music has consistently been one of the worst things about the remake. Not sure why they couldn't just use the old OST, they sure seemed to enjoy reusing the Sailor Neptune Submarine Reflection attack SFX (in part II) SM is at times a dark manga with some violent scenes and lots of deaths. This music is not reflective of this at all. It's painfully forgettable. Re-watch value is 0 despite some of the nicer scenes and character redesigns (which are lovely), there is very little tension/drama going on. Transformations are just lazy copy-pastes of the 90s version, like it's well known Uranus is the only one who got the entire budget for an amazing new attack. I wanted to see a lot more color, literally there is an artist/animator on IG who has recently done a SM transformation remake and it's painfully beautiful to look at and so I know it could have been better, I don't need to see remake of the 90s content, for that I have the original and it seems until a studio like Cloverworks maybe can access the rights to SM we're never getting a good remake.

I had to wait for June to come just so I could watch it on Netflix because I was so excited about it. LOVE HOW IT RADIATES GAE ENERGY EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE MOVIE, IS IT BECAUSE IT'S JUNE? The Dream arc is often regarded as the best Sailor Moon arc for its fairytale-like plot and the focus on internalized thoughts and feelings for many of our beloved characters. Tho, I, as a fan of Sailor Moon don't really like this arc because I don't really like Chibiusa and this arc just is around her but as someone who has rewatched Sailor Moon a million times, I would say that the story is still quite enjoyable and I'm really amazed and shocked that they changed the OG story but I think I do prefer it this way since there were more plot twists than I was really y'know expecting. I also really liked how the movie is about finding yourself, your dream and all. Overall, I liked it. P.S. You can't tell me otherwise that the Mamoru and Helios moments are not gae~ also I still can't move on from Haruka and Usagiii whyyy nott them but Mamoru hot so can't complain. ART: 10/10 STUNNING AND GORGEOUS 10/10. THE REASON WHY I'M GAE IS BECAUSE OF SAILOR MOON, NOT JUST HER, MOSTLY HER AND SEIYA, AND OFC HARUKA, AND MAMORU CHIBA BUT MOST OF THE CHARACTERS ARE DAMN FINE. I kept taking pictures and pausing the movie just so I could admire the characters. No matter how much I age, I would really find them so attractive likkeee ughhhhh. I don't think I have to explain anymore hehe. SOUND: 8/10 I'd say it's like 8/10 because I didn't really paid attention to the music, maybe it's because it's just the movie and not the whole series in which have more soundtrack but I went in and listened again and it's still as beautiful as the first time I've heard it. Y'know the types of music to fall in love with or cry under the rain. CHARACTERS: 9/10 I really like how you can see some if not all of their character development in the movie, love how there was background story on the four guardians tho I would really ask you guys to read the manga in which I'm currently reading to further understand it because the movie skipped parts of it. ENJOYMENT: 10/10 No matter how old I am, I would really still watch Sailor Moon all over again. I grew up this and not like any anime in which I had to let go due to growing up but this, I really never lost interest in this. Watching Sailor Moon will always be fun for me. That's why, I can't wait for the Sailor Stars act. OVERALL: 9/10 It's not perfect but hey, I love it.

Did anyone else notice the Yuuichirou reference in Rei's part of the movie? Other than that, WHY TF did Luna's eyes get changed from red to blue? How does Diana get her red eyes in this new continuity? Why did this 20th anniversary project turn into the 30th anniversary project? Why could we get 200 continuous episodes with solid visuals and plot in 5 year's time in the 90's, but it took 10 years to release the equivalent runtime of 55 episodes the 2020's? So in double the time, we got 1/4 of the quantity. That's a 1/8 of the initial speed, on average. On top ofthat, there's no excuse for the shit visuals and music with the advancements in technology. There's no excuse for the awful screenplay with how big this IP is and has been for 30 YEARS. And, with how much team Crystal shat on the classic, why THE HELL is Crystal copy pasting everything it can from the classic? All the poses, the transformation sequences frame by frame, even the anatomy of the characters! I thought "it'S lwoYaL to ThE mwAngWa"... And why did Netflix enter the mix for the cash grab? It's so disgusting.
