Awesome anime, cant wait for season 2 If you loved grandmaster of demonic cultivation or Tian gu cifu you will also love this Bai is a comedic character at times which lightens the mood, but he can be serious at times and his brilliance comes out. Though he appears to be a goof and incompetent always fleeing from difficult situations, when he is forced to fight - his genius comes out. I love the character development throughout the series, he starts out as fair weak and through hard work becomes OP AF. Overall enjoyed the serie's alot!! defs worth a watch 10/10

The series has quite a bit of drama, as expected from a Chinese show, but it's definitely much less than you would think. It's HILARIOUS. You will laugh throughout watching the whole series. I saw in a review something about romance, so on that note, I would like to say that the ''romance'' part is after epp 48/49 when Bai (main character) changes his appearance because he is now older. Up until few last episodes he has the same appearance. Love drama/romance is showed through elder Song Junwan (an elder of the middle peak of Blood Stream Sect). She falls for him and is annoyed that heis working in other peaks to refine pills. There is a couple of scenes with them, but it is not so dominant. Basically, until these last few epps you won't really see much of a romance, maybe here and there some girls who fall in love with Bai Xiaochun. In the last episode, the ending is definitely showing that there is another season planned (the war and so on). I didn't read the novel, but I found that Bai Xiaochun will have a couple of wives, so I think that next season/part will have much more romance than this one, because here he is mostly a child, until epp 48/49. The main character's Bai Xiaochun personality is what makes this show so funny. He is cunning, he is smart, he is sly, he does have some good intentions, he is not evil, but he does do everything for himself. He does not plan to hurt others, it just so happens from time to time when he is practicing/refining pills or doing something. What's interesting is that he has a divine beast from River-Defying sect and as seen in the anime he got himself a demon at Blood Stream Sect. So he has 2 completely different pets. He is really strong and capable, also very talented because he got enlightened with many sect secrets from different sects (well, I guess he is the main character for a reason). Even though he is strong he prefers to act like he's weak and does not like to fight that much or to show off his true strenght. He is really afraid of death and that's why he is practicing everything connected to imortality. It's an interesting show and for me, it was really funny! I started watching somewhere at the beginning around epp 10/12 because I taught it would have 25 epps, but then they changed it to 52. I am glad that I watched it and I am looking forward to next season.

NO SPOILERS As a person who binge watched this anime within 4 days, Im telling that this anime is a must watch if you are looking for some good chinese animes.. STORY is decent..It progresses slowly and at a decent pace since the original source material is a novel.. ANIMATION is good at most of the times..and the scenerios looks pretty in this anime..Fight scenes, they did a decent animation which is comparable to most top japanese anime studios.. CHARACTERS are too many..it is hard to remember all these chinese names and details of the sect and its people(something like Clan in this anime)..Otherwise characters are fine..Some were therejust for comedic purposes and some for plot and story..It is a good mix of characters SOUND and SONGS were lovely and good..It may seem repetitive..But There were no bad sound choices in it.. MAIN PROTAGANIST is the center of the anime..If u dont like his character traits ,you should probably drop the anime..because his character remains the same thoroughout the series...Mostly a comedic person... He had some OP moments here and there..But dont decide that this is some overpowered protaganist who just face forward by destroying his enemies left and right...Dont expect that a lot... The anime has its best moments here and there... ROMANCE moments are slightly prevalent ..but it is too less...Dont expect any romance between main characters..Keep your expectations low.. COMEDY is great for me..But for some people comedic moments in this anime may feel cringe.. OVERALL THIS ANIME IS A GOOD WATCH...(Sry for bad english)

A Will Eternal Review. Some spoilers It appears I have stumbled upon a hidden gem in the Anime industry. This cultivation donghua is a feast to the eyes as long as you ignore the character development arcs up to the part when Bai Xiaochun fights for his life trying to get his companions to raise suspicion on branch family revolts. As the story progresses, we see that this chicken thief, Uncle Li Lover, Ninth Fatty becomes knowledgeable and more prominent within the Xiangji Sect (can't remember if this is what it's called) The cultivation of Bai Xiaochun at the Spirit Realm when he encounters the devilwas probably the pivotal moment where the story started to get interesting. He slaughtered everyone bullying his sect mates under bloodthirsty Wu Ji legend from 800 years before. And to freshen the story, Bai Xiaochun leaves the sect for the Bloodstream Sect encounters his beloved (also forgot her name) who was left to die at the spirit realm possessed by the devil girl. At this point in the story, there are a lot of interesting plot points and persons of interest surrounding the Main character. The story is vast and was executed well, the character doesn't stay in one place too long making the series stale. I am excited to see what the story has held for season 2. Character development was amazing, it felt emotional that Uncle Li and the sect honored Bai Xiaochun's deed to protect his sect mates. When he returned, his comedic persona didn't change despite returning from death. Also the Bloodstream Sect love affair with the Song family and Bai Xiaochun was a great development of romeo-juliet style romance before ending . Art and Sound were great in terms of being a donghua, which suggests this was a highly anticipated series with powerful backers. I find that this was a reason why I stayed for so long, a mixture of great animation, sound design and story made this a treat. Overall, giving this series an 8/10. With a lot of praise for the series, I also felt bored with how Bai Xiaochun kept pretending to be weak in the earlier arcs where he is fighting his sectmates in tournaments which put me off initially. However, after that he does improve his eternal will by cultivating his power in confidence.

I don't usually do this since I think anime is a deeply personal and subjective experience, but this show deserves some love. The art, voice-acting, story and comedy are all very high quality. Enough that this show could go toe-to-toe with ANY of the big Japanese acts(DanDaDan/Jujutsu Kaisen). In fact, I think the only reason anyone would rate this poorly, would be due to weird geopolitical bullsh*t - sentiments that, I sincerely believe, do not belong in a discussion of artistic merit. I honestly used to think that all Chinese anime sucked. Not gonna lie. Nothing I saw had any real "soul",or was hard to get into, and in my very subjective opinion the language just doesn't sound as pretty as Japanese does. UNTIL one day I randomly came across a cute little slice of life comedy called "God Troubles Me"(another one that doesn't get as much love as it deserves), and it COMPLETELY changed my thinking. I laughed my ass off. I laughed just as hard, if not harder, than I did at any of the best Japanese comedies(Saiki Kusuo/Grand Blue/Gintama). It made me realize that the Chinese really are capable of creating great and beautiful works. Works with "soul". THIS IS ONE OF THOSE WORKS. The comedy keeps me coming back to it, but the story itself is gripping- I haven't felt this kind of edge-of-your-seat suspense since Bleach started bustin' out the Bankais, however many decades ago. You know exactly what I'm talkin about. That feeling when Byakuya Kuchiki goes "Ban..kai" and all the swords start rising out of the void. Or when Ichigo comes back with the demon horns and blasts a new hole through Ulquiorra. That feeling that makes you go "FUCK YES THAT WAS AWESOME!". I still get that feeling every time I watch this show. The attention to detail is amazing. I keep finding new and awesome little quirks that I missed every new time I watch. Most of the fight scenes you can slow down frame-by-frame and the quality doesn't drop AT ALL. The world-building, without any spoilers(and you really don't want to be spoiled on this), just beats the living crap out of anything else I've seen in the last few years. I genuinely have no idea how they found the budget and the manpower to do it all. The characters are colorful, rich and well-rounded. The voice acting has a depth to it that you don't see in a lot of places. Plus if you're like me and you enjoy listening to the nuances of different languages, you will get the FULL emotional range and intonation that the Mandarin language has to offer. If you're not sold yet, then I'm surprised you've read this far. If you're on the fence, then maybe give it a try for a few eps and see if it grows on you. You'll probably at least get a chuckle or two out of it. I may be biased obviously since I'm writing this whole thing about it, but I am genuinely grateful to have found a show like this and feel like my time with it has been very well spent. Maybe you will too. TL;DR - Not all Chinese stuff sucks. This is a prime example.
