Xixing Ji Zhi Zaijian Wukong or The westward movie is a prequal to the series which tells u the past story of Wukong (Monkey king). In the series season 2 flashbacks we say Wukong rebel against gods. This basically adds more story layers and characters while developing wukong origins and his relationship with buddha and heaven and how he went on journey to the west with Tang Sanzang and other. It reused few of the scenes already shown in the series including flashbacks and adds all the new elements to it shows us in really well around way to be worthy being a greatmovie. (Even though watching series is a prerequisite, The way this movie is made I don't think re-watching the series is required to jog ur memories) I would compare the movie to King's avatar movie in terms of being worthy as a prequal movie which retained the level of its series. It is animated through CGI which good quality when compared with other Chinese anime. Though still not the best and not for everyone. Action scenes are really well done. I really enjoyed it very much As a fan of this series, I cannot give anything less than 9/10
