Monmon is one of six anime films shown only in the Ghibli Museum's Saturn Theatre. It's just a short film animated by Studio Ghibli. I'm probably one the few people on MAL who's seen this. According to wikipedia each month the museum will show a different one of these six films. So to see them all you'd have to be in Japan for six months and go to the museum once a month. The only other other option is to watch a crappy recording from inside the theatre. There are some on youtube, but I don't know if they show the entire animation. As I saidthe film is short. Only about 15 minuets. The animation is your typical Ghibli animation, so it's pretty good. The artwork is pretty simple. The sounds are all good. I can't remember how good the music was, but I think it was pretty good. Any Ghibli fan would probably like this movie. It's just too bad these movies are so hard to see. I'd write more of a review, but the film is very short so there is not much to write about. That, and my memory of it could be a lot better.

I really enjoyed this short film and it's such a pity that not a lot of people are able to see it. The music was amazing and as always even though the storyline was not sad, my eyes teared up. Highly recommend to watch this one while in Japan :)

I saw this several years ago when I visited the Ghibli Museum and, as another reviewer said, it really is a shame that it isn't available to more people because it's so beautiful. The music was lovely and, since it's Ghibli, the animation was gorgeous as well. Such a sweet story but also bittersweet. I would go back to the museum solely for the purpose of seeing this again (I loved it so much)! If you're lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the museum I hope you're able to see it.

This was genuinely amazing. I can't believe that such a touching film could be tucked away in such a hidden avenue of Japan. I highly recommend anyone capable of seeing this in person take the chance. "Supposedly" this can only be viewed at a Museum once every six months but I'll give you a hint - you can find it online if you search enough! It says I need more information so I will add that the love between a lowly diving spider and a water strider is so beautiful it's hard to beat. I felt this movie was more touching than romance movies 10x aslong as it. What a unique and beautiful piece of animation and narrative storytelling. you will not regret watching this any way you can. Even if it comes from a shoddy cam rip. Watch this ANY WAY YOU CAN!

This short was SO amazing. I was really moved by it. I loved the romance and the dance of the spider and the water spider. It was so beautiful. Truly one of the best animated films I've ever seen. Amazing animation, amazing story, just beautiful. The story was incredibly unique because it was 2 bugs, and yet they made you love those 2 bugs like most romance anime never do. And in 15 minutes! The characterization of the 2 bugs was great the MC obviously got more than the love interest but they still did some great work on her. What a crazy idea for an anime shortthat en3ded up being absolutely phenomenal. I mean the the spider breathes from it's ass! LOL
