Golden Kamuy Season 4
ゴールデンカムイ
The race to obtain the lost Ainu gold is nearing its peak, as even more formidable ex-prisoners are set on keeping their tattooed skins intact. Saichi Sugimoto and Asirpa can finally move forward together, but Asirpa's time with Kiroranke and Ogata Hyakunosuke has slightly altered her ambition and strengthened her determination. As their party leaves the Russian territory, they gain a peculiar follower. Meanwhile, Toshizou Hijikata's crew makes major moves to get invaluable skins, falling into the poisonous trap of a dangerous convict. Although each group possesses a strong advantage over the others, even First Lieutenant Tokushirou Tsurumi—the most powerful and ruthless contender—cannot advance without Asirpa's help. However, his ominous plans for when they will inevitably meet remain a mystery. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

"Hinna, Hinna!" is back for yet another heart-wrenching season of missions in the Ainu lands, though this time it's hit with a rather harsh setback. The masterpiece that is mangaka Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy, now 4 seasons in, and the seasonal effect can't be stopped now since we're already 5/6ths of the way to the end of the manga's adaptation. And like Kohei Horikoshi's Boku no Hero Academia a.k.a My Hero Academia and Koshi Tachibana's Date A Live, the movement to continue the trend until the direct conclusion of the source material is in sight, no matter how many years it takes for everyone involved inthe anime adaptation to see the manga through from start to finish, which I will be there to watch as well. Season 4 adapting Volumes 21 to the beginning of Volume 25, it's no doubt a rushed job trying to fit as much content into the anime as Asirpa, the Immortal Sugimoto and Co. race towards more findings of prisoners laden with the tattoo to find out the final location of the Ainu gold, with the two laden parties of Hijikata Toshizou and the 7th Division's big boss, Lieutenant Tsurumi, following close behind, slipstreaming through the cracks. Otherwise, no point in giving the same pointers as I've given all those years ago since Season 1, but you already know the deal: Golden Kamuy is in a league of its own, and more Golden Kamuy content is better than nothing. The major problem with Season 4, is that since the studio reign is handed over to Brain's Base instead of Geno Studio (and with the former giving up Fumetsu no Anata e a.k.a To Your Eternity's Season 2 to studio Drive), there was the unfortunate event that one of the staff members in the team passed away when it originally aired back in Fall 2021. Condolences to him/her, and the anime was pushed back all the way till this season, losing the hype that it once had from that time period, to wait 6 months before Season 4 restarted its broadcast from the top until it reached its continuation. It's a major deficit, for sure, but a necessary one, unlike COVID. Though Brain's Base did a decent job continuing Geno Studio's legacy, like To Your Eternity, I was hoping less for the sudden studio change because of the long legacy of the work involved, despite virtually having more or less the majority of the same staff team with the studio replacement. The music has always been a plus for Golden Kamuy. The OP this time is handled by the hip-hop/funk band ALI feat. hip-hop artist Daisuke Sakama a.k.a Mummy-D, it's good, but for every proceeding OP seasonal song for Golden Kamuy, I reckon, it feels like they have been on the decline. What does not fall is the ED, which is handled by The Spellbound, whose song has an uncanny similarity to Season 1's The Sixth Lie ED song "Hibana", which I totally like and am down for. The final word from me is: Bring us more Golden Kamuy; the hardcore fans (like me and you) will watch the anime adaptation come to fruition, with the final season coming soon.

The 4th season of Golden Kamuy is barely a shell of the prior three seasons. With a new studio, it is very obvious that the best they can do is pay lip service to the gimmicks of previous seasons without truly understanding how to carry the plot forward in a compelling way. Golden Kamuy is a story with culture, heart, and the excitement of new discoveries. This 4th season has lost those genuine qualities and can only weakly attempt to scribble something vaguely similar on paper for viewers who don't mind. One argument in defense of this season is that it is an attempt to fleshout the backstories of major side characters. However, this attempt is seriously controversial as it retcons already established backstory in the prior season. Further, the pacing of these one-off episodes has seriously ground the series down to a halt as it seems to delay advancing the plot until the manga is finished. Based on most of the reviews I've seen, most viewers enjoy this 4th season as much as the previous ones. With that in mind, I think many people will still enjoy this even with its changes. Personally, however, I hope Golden Kamuy finds its footing again next season and recaptures its original spirit of adventure.

The best of golden kamuy once again , I am very thankful that the new studio change has not made any impact on the quality of the show, since this is a season4 review I am gonna assume everyone is atleast a decent way into the series and knows and loves golden kamuy just like i do so i will not do much fangirling and get into the review plot (9/10) the hunt for the gold has become the main focus once more since Asiripa is now reunited with the gang. I love the fact that some of the journey that people of different factions had witheach other have had lasting changes in them , especially tsukishima and koito. the mystery of the gold is yet too far and it feels like we may find once piece faster than the gold xD. the flow of the story does have the allowance of certain filler episodes in the name of collecting new skins (oh the gaming fans will relate :3). the subtle hints and the character portrayal of especially the old dogs like hijikata and tsurumi is a mastr peiece and still the best example of a mental state of broken people in an anime that I have seen in ages. the newer characters also made a substantial enough impact but at the cost of screentime of the hijikata faction .the only problem was the brief hiatus the story went through but it shouldnt be a problem for the new viewers anyway. characters (10/10) no one writes better seinen characters than the author of golden kamuy, one may argue that they are very very polarizing in their ideology and can be unrealistically violent and ruthless but it just shows how brutal and hard the war was on these people. the character arcs of the major faction leaders are coming to an ominous conclusive end and I cant wait to see how it shapes the ending and the conflict between them. the writing for the characters is fabulous as always but we did not see much developement in the form of many characters , only asiripa if we speak of the mains and tsukishima and koito for the side characters developed in any way and the rest remained more or less the same. tsurumi did show a bit of a reveal that may have hints to his real motivations but we are mostly left with speculation. art and animation (9/10) as always the art of golden kamuy is flawless unique and honestly so underrated in the west. we got a perfect representation of ainu culture which is what made golden kamuy what it is . the accuracy and ambience of the 1900 war torn japan/ russia is also very well done. the animation throughout this season was amazing and it could be argued that it is even an upgrade with most of the signature fast paced but brutal and interesting fights being more fluid and having a ton of more sakuga than before. the art in the OP was great , but they went a more unique and stylized ED which i cant complain about but it was definetly more about art than animation. sound and VA (10/10) in traditional golden kamuy fashion both the OP and ED are both already in my playlist and certified bangers, the VA of the cast is as it was the last few seasons so not much to add there other than them being iconic unique and hopefully trend setting.the ost was also good but mostly had most of originals in use with some remixed versions. welll what can i say , golden kamuy is still the one single anime that i "accidently stumbled upon" and i still to this day am glad for since it really established my love for anime as a form of entertainment.if you havent given it a shot already , it is a must watch and the manga is an award winning best seinen of this decade so you dont have to just take my word for it.

Golden Kamui 4 Have you ever seen a pseudo Jack the Ripper fight an army officer while the two were shooting at each other with their own "cum"? No? Of course not, but now is your chance. When I started this season, I never expected to see a scene like this on my screen. But I was impressed by it, something like this should be seen more often. Aside from the masterful performance delivered by this bizarre fight, I must also continue to praise how well the series has developed. Even though this season had more adventure episodes than story episodes, they were made very interesting. It'sworth mentioning that every character gets screentime and doesn't just vegetate. You can tell that the series is slowly moving towards the end and I hope that the last or next season can offer a similar quality as the 3 predecessors, so that a successful conclusion would be possible.

Man I love this show. Before I dove into season four, Golden Kamuy was already one of my favourite shows. After season four however my opinion has changed...I love it even more. Ill start with the story simply because I want to write about it the most. This season might just be the best yet. From a progression of the story and exhilarating moments, season three takes it. But man is this season funnier than ever. There are too many moments to mention that are absolutely hilarious. I haven't laughed so many times in such a short period of time watching an anime as I didfor this season. It also doesn't detract away from the serious element of this adventure. Every character is necessary here. They are written perfectly. The only element of this season that keeps it as a 9/10 is the stories told in the season are a little short and disjointed. Don't get me wrong, I still think this season is a strong 9/10. I read in the reviews from someone who reads that manga that a lot was crammed in seemingly to draw the show to a close sooner. This may be why it was written so. Nevertheless, the story of this season is great and the adventure within Golden Kamuy just never gets boring. Animation wise, this is where we will see the classic cliche comments. Season 1-3 was by Geno Studio and season 4 was done by Brain's Base. Because of this we will undoubtedly see; 'season 4 is a shell of what came before because of the studio change' or 'the new studio has killed the show'. Putting this cliche crap to one side, the animation is as good as ever. Its as high quality as it has always been. The new studio clearly respect the IP and have delivered exactly what was required for the fourth installment. Music too is spot on. As good as it as ever been. Golden Kamuy is a superb show. It is hilarious, packed with action, doesn't take itself too seriously and will forever be one of the best adventure stories that exists within the anime medium. If you are reading reviews of season four, chances are you have started the show and are already hooked. If you havnt started, do it. You won't regret it. It's brilliant.
