Kamikatsu: Working for God in a Godless World
神無き世界のカミサマ活動
Under the belief that the omnipotent god Mitama will come to save him, Yukito Urabe participates in a ritual to become the new leader of his father's cult. But when the boy drowns during the ritual, he wishes to be reborn in a world without gods or religion. Reawakening in a completely different world devoid of spirituality. He meets a deviant girl named Aruaru, who introduces him to her village. However, his idyllic image of this world's society is short-lived when he witnesses a public group suicide and learns of the country's end-of-life system: at any moment, the government may order any citizen to die. Aruaru and her sister are forcibly taken for execution soon after, prompting Yukito to rush to their rescue—but to no avail. In a moment of desperation, Yukito recalls his father's teachings and utters a prayer for Mitama to save them. Seemingly answering his call, a little girl descends from the sky and annihilates everyone who harmed Yukito and his friends. To Yukito's surprise, the girl introduces herself as Mitama. KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World is a fantasy isekai anime that explores the themes of religion, morality, and free will. The story follows Yukito, a boy who is transported to a world without gods after a failed ritual, and Mitama, the goddess who answers his prayers. The anime has a mix of action, comedy, and drama, as Yukito and Mitama face various challenges and enemies in their quest to restore faith and order in the godless world. The animation is well-done, the characters are likable and funny, and the plot is engaging and unpredictable. I recommend this anime to anyone who enjoysisekai, fantasy, or satire. It is a refreshing and original take on the genre that will make you laugh, cry, and think.

This anime takes a bit of time to really get going, but ultimately the main plot is about the protagonist, Yukito, creating a new religion in a world without religion. Yukito was originally the son of the head of a cult and died during one of their rituals. This gave him a strong dislike of gods and religion, and thus his last wish was to be reincarnated into a world without religion. His wish essentially comes true and at first he’s enjoying his new life in a godless small village. However, there are some really dark aspects to the world he’s been reincarnated into, andthe only reason he survives is due to the god of the cult from his old world, Mitama, coming to save him. Unfortunately, gods draw powers from followers, and seeing as Mitama doesn’t have any followers in the world they’re in, she quickly runs out of power. Thus, in order to protect the village that took him in and the friends he’s made, Yukito begins creating a new religion to power up Mitama while using every dirty trick he learned while heir apparent to a cult. Things get more complicated when powerful being known as Archons catch onto his plan and start implementing their own schemes to gain followers and ascend to godhood. The writing here is overall really interesting and the world building centered around how the world ended up in a godless state is fleshed out well. The central plot regarding expanding the religion is well paced and develops nicely over the course of the season. Throughout that, the anime details various tools and tricks that have been used to create and spread religions as well as providing some insight into how religion works in general. It’s nothing too deep or complicated, but it does give the writing more weight than if it it was entirely made up. With all that said, I would like to make it clear that is absolutely in no way at all a serious anime. It is primarily a comedy with a lot of the comedy arising from how ridiculously the serious plot matters are dealt with. It is one wild ride from beginning to end. Things escalate to absurd degrees completely unexpectedly. The writing doesn’t really fall into typical tropes or cliches because things too crazy for other anime are constantly happening. That and due to all the highly visual sexual humor. Yukito is a really fun protagonist. He’s a terrible person, but in a good way. His first instinct when interacting with anyone is to evaluate how useful they are and try to manipulate them. This is a part of himself that he hates due to it being a result of his cult heir upbringing. He doesn’t have much of a character arc, but he does get some character development in that he starts to accept being a terrible person because it’s necessary for the sake of protecting the village and his friends. With that said, the anime still hams it up in regards to him and tries to make him seem as dastardly as possible, which is usually pretty hilarious. The rest of the cast are also pretty much just a bunch of lunatics. There’s an attempt at giving some of them serious backstories, mainly the antagonists, but overall I didn’t feel it was all that well written. They still have depth in terms of unique personalities and their bonds with each other. That plays incredibly well into the comedy and is enough to make quite a few of them likable and the group overall worth getting invested in. This season only has a small part of a much longer story so the ending to this season definitely doesn’t feel complete, but the final stretch of the final episode emphasizes the cast in such a way that I’m satisfied with it. This anime is also very unique in terms of it’s production values. To put it lightly, it’s low budget. However, it seems the anime studio knew what they were dealing with and planned around it very well. They do all sorts of crazy things that may not work for most anime, but fit very well with the absurd nature of this anime. The 3DCG is so bad its actually funny. There’s even a scene where they just took real life footage and pasted anime characters heads over it. A lot of scenes are also randomly pixel art instead of traditional animation. There may not have been a lot of money put into this anime, but there was clearly a lot of heart, and it definitely shines through. With that said, passion is not enough to overcome all of the anime’s shortcomings, and the bad animation is often very pronounced. Still, I really like the artistic decisions and character designs so overall I really like how the anime looks. The OP and ED are pretty solid too in terms of visuals and music. I really liked how the visuals changed from episode to episode. The songs I wasn’t particularly fond of at first but they really grew on me. The soundtrack was decent enough but not particularly memorable other than the great use of insert songs. tl;dr: A very messy but interesting and amusing anime.

This show is hilarious. I think the bad CGI filtered a lot of people who gave it bad ratings but for those who didn't get it : it's on purpose. they have a small budget so they went full shitpost and made the cgi as bad as they could and It's just amazing. If you read the manga you can notice the changes that they made (like how they turn scary looking monsters to hilarious CGI beasts). The characters are great, the story is weird and goes unexpected ways every episode. and most impotantly it's done by a passionate staff who add to the humourwith their shitposts. The Seiyuus performance is also great as you feel how much fun they are having with it. This type of humour might not be for eveyone though. But if you like weird japanese comedy this is absolute gold.

This is the best anime of the spring season of 2023, although, no, it might just be the best anime ever made. Aoi Akashiro is a genius, and that says it all. If you're a fan of unpredictable plot, unexpected twists and turns, you've come to the right place. I'll start my second paragraph by repeating: Aoi Akashiro is a genius. You don't believe in God? Are you an atheist? Are you a scientist? After watching this anime, you will discard your ridiculous principles, because there is a goddess here - LOLI! Even if you're not an atheist, why worship all sorts of Buddhas, Poseidons,Zeus (what's in fashion now), if you can worship LOLI? One Lola goddess and the population of the entire globe will be converted to monotheism. The protagonist, Yukito, finds himself in a world where, left behind in a village, he realizes that none of the inhabitants know the word "god." However, it is time to find out, as we have an evil empire that wants to destroy the village for unexplained reasons. That's where Yukito's powers come in: a powerful loli, the prerequisites for a scientific and technological revolution, and also the ability to make fancy alcohol. What will come of this? The hell knows, due to the abundance of unexpected twists and turns in the plot, I'm completely confused, so let's just admire the goddess from now on. Many viewers have had time to laugh at the 3D animation, which is silly, because even Ufotable Studios couldn't create the kind of beauty in the new season of Demon Slayer that Palette created. It's a shame that almost no one has been able to reach their level (and only Berserk is an exception), which is why the anime industry staggers in the same place, there is no progress. We need to learn from "Kaminaki Sekai no Kamisama Katsudou". Despite my dislike of isekai, this work was a unique case, for it mocks the clichéd nature of the genre through amusing dialogues, moments and drawn faces. It is also dominated by a number of references, such as to wahoo. In a way, the anime makes fun of many things, but not all viewers understood that and therefore gave it a low rating. Well, I recommend this anime only to people who like to laugh with all sorts of cringe-worthy crap like boob jokes, alcohol and various isekai things. If you're not a connoisseur of beauty, then turn around and go watch boring crap like "The Eminence in Shadow", but hopefully you can still realize someday that Aoi Akashiro is a genius.

Another Anime that get low review because people who are not supposed to watch this anime picked it up. Before that. The bad part: - MC is the typical anime loser MC that get's freaked out if a girl trys to have a sexual relationship. And Japan wonders why they have birth rate issues. - CG and various other animations are bad. Heck, for whatever reason, they where fast forwarded ruining the enjoyment even further - Tons of Censorship because?????? This is one of those anime that should have had nudity and more. - Is NOT for everyone. Not everyone can enjoys this anime. To make it very easyto understand: Do you like gag humour? Do you like perverted jokes? Do you like explicit sex related scenes? If no, skip this anime. So the good part: - Tons of sex related jokes to the level you have no idea what in the world you just watched. - Exactly because of what I just wrote, as well as other stuff, you have no way how to explain what you just watched. - If you ever want to see how religious brainwashing works, this is a good anime (otherwise, no, it's not a good part since religious brainwashing) - The pace is all over, you have no idea and no way to tell what in the world will happen next (usually). - tons of humour, but only if you are ok with sex related jokes (otherwise, stay away since it's not for you)
