Okashi na Tensei

This show takes the standard Isekai tropes and plays them with a level of honesty and groundedness that is hard to come by (and by this I mean any groundedness at all). There are some concerns about this not being a cooking show, and that there are politics and war instead. I see this as a strength; I appreciated the sort of bait-and-switch of expecting to see a MC living in leisure and doing what they love, but instead seeing them being confronted by the responsibility of being born noble. Desserts are left mostly in the background but they are used as a plot device hereand there. I like to think of this as Ascendance of a Bookworm but with desserts instead. That is probably the highest praise I can give an Isekai series. Overall, this is an enjoyable show. The elements of Isekai that make them bad are mostly absent -- I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have a big prejudice against the genre.

This is perfectly fine anime. Good animation, nice fx, pretty good VA. Bit bland here and there but its a good watch. However, there is one aspect of this show I despise. It's a fantasy show, with fantasy elements, taking stuff from our world too. Goats are goats, milk is milk, eggs are eggs, but apples are bonkas. They say it repeatedly. it's used in a lot of recipes in the show. This would be charming if the other ingredients were given fantasy names, or maybe if he slipped up and called them apples by mistake. There's a poignant moment full of the history of dessertsand relating it to a side characters arc ruined by "its made from bonkas". No point in calling them that, zero purpose. other than that he has a cool power that doesn't get much use, not forgotten but still... It had a cool moment but then the back half of the show its almost absent. I thought thered be a scene explaining why he cant duplicate money, or if he tried to duplicate a goat or horse theyd be very sick so he can't use it like that, but no. He couldve the whole time.

I was promised anime about baking in isekai instead I got this boring stilted political "talks". Thats probably the reason why they had to put that "he is amazing patissier" schlock in front of every opening - otherwise everyone would probably forget by the 3rd episode. I am a huge fan of cookig/baking anime and I usually rate them higher than they objectively deserve to be rated because I just enjoy them so much. This was just disappointing and a waste of time. Frankly I had to watch the last 4 episodes on 2x speed because it was so boring. Dont watch it unless youwant to be put to sleep.

Review for this anime, many mistakes can be started from the most basic, namely the title and story are not in sync, if you think this anime will tell a story of a pâtissier who will revolutionize the culinary world with knowledge from the modern world then you will be very wrong. The focus of this anime story is more on the military side than the world of pâtissier/culinary, the MC who plays the profession of Patissier is only an occasional interlude that is inserted in this story. So this is the root of the problem of this anime story. The main focus of thisanime story does not match the title and prologue that are always inserted at the beginning of this anime aired every episode. This is where the disappointment begins, from the most basic thing in this story. A more reasonable approach to the profession of Patissier would be more suitable in the fields of economics, agriculture and industry than the military. Patissier and the military have no relationship to compatibility. I myself am confused a Patissier but more dedicated in battle than baking .., So the conclusion of this anime is the same as most low-rated reincarnation genre anime that only fulfill the seasonal anime quota, with the addition of Patissier frills and many typical cliche scenes such as fighting bandits, kidnapping, and wars whose causes are unreasonable. And even if this story leans towards a military approach, there are too many gaps in the story, one small example: the context of the use of magic in this story is ambiguous, aka only a part of the complement without a clear basis, what is the use for in everyday life in the kingdom and who can use magic? This is really unclear ?! And many more strange gap details in the story of this anime. For animation etc. the assessment is all standard minus, tiring if explaining it. So I can't recommend this anime, if it's just to waste time maybe yes.
