Promise of Wizard
魔法使いの約束
On her way home, kindhearted high school student Akira Masaki is whisked away to another world full of magic. Those who can wield it are called wizards, and some are chosen to fight against the Great Calamity annually. Although battling the catastrophe was manageable in the past, it has become so powerful that it has claimed many lives. In the midst of all the chaos, the Great Sage has the power to guide the chosen wizards in the combat against the Great Calamity—a role that has been passed to Akira. Even though the girl desires to return home, she agrees to stay with the surviving wizards and help them find their new comrades scattered across five countries. Akira must now convince them to join the cause and lead the group against the imminent evil. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

For those who might be interested in promise of wizard I say go for it! Please give it a chance. I didn't think I was going to like it, but once I saw the pv I was all in. I can't tell you anything about the game since I've never played it before but I can say it's a very magical anime. Yes it's slow in the beginning but it picks up quick! The animation is beautiful and there is humor as well and I promise you it focuses on the wizards. I do wish they could've made it 14 episodes but I think that'sfine. It gives me hope there'll be a second season. If you're into magic, wizard, fantasy type anime then promise of wizard is your show. Please, please give a chance!

Sometimes, you just sit in front of an anime and watch it even if it is nothing spectacular. Promise of Wizard is that kind of anime. I sat down, relaxed, and enjoyed the ride. It didn't need to be incredible and outstanding for me to enjoy it. I think this story had a lot of potential which was unfortunately unexplored; it would have needed many more episodes, so I hope there is a second season. This first season ended without giving any explanations about the major plot point: the Great Calamity. We have no answers to the questions we asked ourselves since it was first mentionedby the wizards. I'm pretty sure that if there is a second season, this would be addressed as the story keeps progressing and moving forward. Having the problem of the Great Calamity solved within 12 episodes wouldn't have made much sense anyways. Also, a new character is introduced in episode 11, but unfortunately, we don't have any explanations as to who he is either. Which makes me believe that if there is a second season, this wouldn't be the last of him we'd see. I actually thought that guy was somehow linked to the Great Calamity, which was exciting. I really enjoyed the lore and the universe where the story takes place. I liked how it was divided into 5 regions (North, East, South, West and the Central part), and how different wizards were depending on the region they came from. As I've mentioned before, I do think the lore is interesting but it's the lack of development that doesn't do it justice. Though the animation was ok, the character design, on the other hand, was insane! Each character was stylish and had a very distinct personality too. I found all the characters enjoyable, in their own way, and some of them were mysterious and intriguing. A lot can be made with so many characters. All in all, I enjoyed this anime but I know it is nothing spectacular and that a lot of people wouldn't like it. Which is why I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and selected the "Mixed Feelings" option. However, if you simply want to sit in front of an anime, relax, without expecting anything, then I'd recommend it.

Gives bad opera plot vibes, cheap animation and the plot is nonsense at each turn. Only okay thing is character design if you ignore how incoherent it is between each wizard. Episode one starts alright but no plot line gets established well or resolved meaningfully, humans vs wizards is just to advance the plot until instantly its not an issue. Humans vs wizards plot line can be ignored because it never leads anywhere and no reform ever happens, just the magic of plot convenience. Trying to establish complex characters was an attempt, nothing more as too much at once means a character can be "good" then "bad" then "nahI'm a countryside life farmer" without explanation that can be followed when a character just randomly in one episode turns into an animal then gets turned back which is the most coherent trait there was.

Promise of Wizard was beyond garbage. Trash story, stupid flashes of paragraphs displayed for literally 1/4 a second or less - sometimes like 2-4 in quick succession, a MC that's completely passive and literally cannot think for herself with no powers, using only directly what people tell her to do and the extent of her "thinking" is reading what someone else wrote in a book. Never connecting any dots, never doing anything herself. I had it at 4/10 in the beginning but after finishing it honestly it's more like a 1/10. There's not really anything redeemable about it. I'm not even sure who this is for.At face value it looks like an otome where it's a girl surrounded by a bunch of pretty boys. Though the MC is such a blank slate and never advances beyond that and there's not even the MC getting to know the characters well alone romance them that it almost ends up more like a boys love except even that doesn't happen. And the story was so painfully predictable that it was just annoying that literally none of them could figure out any of what was going on even after reveal after reveal. A story with a totally braindead cast for literally no one. Give this one a hard pass. I tend to love even trash isekai but this one is just bad on a fundamental level.

On the technical side, it's a complete failure. Slideshow instead of normal animation, voice acting is much worse than in the game (HOW did they do it??), directing is just terrible, and even the matter of inserting rather long thoughts of the main character for 1 second in text. I'm a big fan of Hanamori Yumiri, but she sounds really weird here, like she was given instructions to sound like Hayami Saori or something like that. This opening is probably the worst, featureless, and laziest thing I've seen in the history of anime. Mili has adorable songs, but this one specifically is too quiet, andthe visuals don't help at all. If they just used the song 1 or 2 chapters of the story from the game would have been a hundred times better. Of course with different visuals and a different studio. It's very sad to see such a poor, even shameful adaptation of a very good story with deep characters from Bunta-sensei. There was just so much potential if the staff had been more competent and understood the original work. Why Aru Majo ga Shinu Made (theme, atmosphere and budget are similar) was able to invite Kajiura Yuki sensei and Mahoyaku chose a composer from yarichin makes no sense. As someone who has read the entire main story in the game and more than half of the events, I VERY much recommend that anyone who reads this instead of watching this horror go read the game itself or find a translation (you'll find it on Twitter if you search). I promise you that it will be 100 times more dynamic than the anime, better effects and voice acting (the main story and some of the events are fully voiced) and naturally the story and characters are very good. As a Fate fan, I'd say it's close in terms of depth of writing. But unfortunately the poor adaptation made absolutely no attempt to show this competently. 4 score just for respecting the original story. And I advise the game company to be budget more wisely and finally release a sequel to the main story after almost two years.
