I started off wondering where the heck everything was going, but by the 40-minute mark, I was fully invested. The drama gets incredibly thick, and communication lines get crossed in unexpected ways despite the supernatural gimmick letting the boys read each other's minds. It goes almost without saying, too, that Cloverworks has also crafted some eye-catching, poignant visuals to go along with the story. The biggest conflicts in the story, however, stem from misunderstandings that don't make sense. Conversations will conveniently end (or not happen at all) to transparently raise the stakes, and that's not my jam. Later revelations end up feeling contrived, obvious, or likesomething everyone should have figured out a long time ago. Maybe that's just the nature of drama. Overall, Fureru was plenty of fun. I thought it was a good time, if not a huge revelation for anime films in general. I'd recommend it if it seems like something you'd enjoy.

One of the anime you watch on a plane type of thing, never heard of it prior to that. I really wanted it to be so much more than it was. The story and concept is so solid, and the animation is tier, very enjoyable. The potential for this film is so high, but there were parts of the story I didn't get to appreciate or enjoy as much the first time watching because of how chaotic all the concepts seemed together. But maybe that was the point of certain scenes, where you felt like the writers wanted to convey a lot of thoughts at once,in such a chaotic, unorganised manner. I really enjoyed the film overall, and I think it carries a very important message when it comes to relatinships of all category.

I randomly watched this on a plane, and it was more than what I thought it would be. For me that's the strength of the story, that it somehow keeps growing, and changing, and I didn't fully understand it until close to the end. Sure, there's the topic of friendship, centered around the incredibly cute Fureru, then there's some drama. Particularly this part halfway through the movie was a bit annoying or unsatisfactory for me at times. But then the real topic is the perspective on communication and how it can affect relationships, which I found universally relatable. I'm happy I watched it.
