I just got back from festival yesterday, I was in a totally good mood, put on the first movie and something already managed to piss me off. :D To be fair, let’s start with the good stuff: I genuinely liked the whole Japanese aesthetic. It’s got its own personality, a certain essence, lots of neat little details (the opening sequence was actually great), and the animation – while far from perfect – definitely has its charm. The music’s also pretty good; I noticed it way more than in the first film (which I barely remember now, aside from that “epic” final fight). And while itdoes its own thing, it still stays fairly true to DC. Wonder Woman is exactly how she should be, I was glad all four Robins showed up, and we also get the classic Batman vs. Superman moment. That’s about all I can give it credit for, though. Content-wise, it's completely empty. The dialogue is just dull, lifeless phrases; there are no twists, no strong narrative, no real depth. The movie throws a bunch of characters at us early on, then just forgets about most of them – I seriously didn’t even notice when they disappeared. All in all, it’s just a stylish, well-animated brawl. Kids might enjoy it, or people who are really into this kind of thing – but personally, I’m over it. I’ve seen these kinds of fights too many times before. Not a terrible movie by any means… just frustrating. And my feelings about Yakuza League are just as conflicted as they were with the first Batman Ninja. When I’d recommend it: • If you just want to switch off and watch some action-packed anime with good animation. • If you don’t care about any story or unnecessary fluff, and just want to see fists, kicks, superpowers, and pure action. • If you’re a DC fan interested in alternative takes and adaptations. • If you don’t mind whether something is objectively good or bad, and are simply looking to explore new anime, new movies, new styles. • If you have kids at home who love superheroes. • If you want to see Wonder Woman sing. When I wouldn’t recommend it: • If you’re watching to appreciate good art rather than just “switch off.” • If you prefer deep stories, meaningful ideas, or emotional depth over simple, meaningless action. • If you’re a bitter person unwilling to step outside your comfort zone and give something a chance even if you might not like it. • If you love DC but can’t stand Japanese anime (yes, those people exist). • If you don’t have time to waste on stuff that adds nothing to your life, and would rather invest your time in something more meaningful. • If you only like the Gotham world because of the Joker.

Where the previous one is a fever dream, this is an actual movie! And I mean it with great respect to both films! Making something more coherent and grounded in source material makes for a smooth transition from the delightful chaos of the first movie. It really shines that the people working on this have grown up with Batman / Justice League (Krypton's Red sun is, for example, a bit of lore that I have not seen used before), and have meshed it perfectly with the energy of Yakuza movies Animation was once again great, continuing with the style of the latter half of the first movie. Iwas not really fond of Superman's voice actor, but he did well. Designs for all the 'villains' were once again fantastic! I really want to see those used more This movie also makes a little joke with it's naming scheme for the 'japanified' heroes and it was a little delight to top the movie off The plot was actually not bad! Which was an improvement. Things were being set up and actually took a second to resolve, and it didn't feel rushed or like there was something missing Both Batman Ninja movies go extremely well for a silly movie night with friends!

I quite really liked the dumb fun of the first one, it was Batman, but being a freakin' Ninja! That was it! This one tries to be a better movie story wise, but by doing so it misses a lot of potential of being an even more over the top action anime movie, and it also loses quite a bit of the original artistic vision by being mostly an adaptation of the contingency plan against the Justice League and not some original crazy story that fits with the style. On the bright side we can see the fact that Kamikaze Douga is back at it again withgreat CGI, but now adding quite a bit more detail on the models, and simplifying on others with a clear intention, and I think it works wonders for the type of movie this is, as well as the voiceover, who all bring out their A game on this feature. Even though it starts right where we left on the last movie, and it also starts on a high note, the hype and craziness this movie starts with goes away quite easily after the intro, and while yes, it might still have it's high points, I'd say it was quite disappointing in the end, specially while comparing it to it's predecessor

Let's just start by saying that this sequel is just dumb fun, and Batman vs. JL is always good. Story: The story continues 1 day after Ninja Batman ends; but it has been more than a month since Batman disappeared. The world now contains a floating Japan above Gotham, where every Justice League member is converted to the Yakuza League. There are also small recap stories of what was changed in each member's life so that they could be raised as Yakuza. Animation: It has the same animation style as the prequel. But in the middle, there was a sudden change in style for a Bat-Mecha scene which wasvery unexpectedly good. General: There is only one scene with the Joker, and it is refreshing not to see the Joker as the main villain. Diana sings a song while she goes for a duel against Aquaman, and sometimes we see the POV from Harley where there are all these cameras and spotlights focused on Diana for the segment. All the Bat-Family gadgets are referred to as Science Ninja Technique (:)). Fighting/Action: The movie starts with Yakuza Storm, so you know the movie is going to be full of action scenes. The fight scenes with every YL are very good, and we even get a good BvS fight at the end. We get to see the Batman's plans that he kept on how to defeat each of the JL heroes in case they go to the dark side. Overall: (9/10) If you liked the prequel, then you will enjoy this and may even like this better than the prequel.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is just as dumb and just as fun as the title would imply. It continues on directly from where the last movie left off with the timeline even further out of whack than when they started, as exhibited by a literal yakuza hurricane raining gangsters from the sky, and seeing Batman as the permanent straight man that he is navigate this wacky and nonsensical timeline shift was endlessly entertaining. The voice cast certainly puts in the work to this effect as well; whether it’s the bombastic Akio Ootsuka, the nobly alluring Romi Park, or the batshit insane cackling of RieKugimiya, the raw talent behind this voice cast is not to be underestimated. I am only vaguely familiar with the dynamics of the Justice League, having grown up on the cartoon in the early 2000s, and even still I was able to get a solid grasp for how these characters typically interact with each other and even catch some fun little references here and there. While I’m normally a bit wary of full-CG productions, having Kamikaze Douga at the helm once again greatly tempered my fears as, much like the last film, this new entry is filled to the brim with explosive and blood-pumping action sequences and outlandish redesigns of classic superheroes. It’s rare these days to get a tight 90 minutes of action spectacle that earnestly takes its plot seriously despite its inherent silliness, and I love that this very weird DC spinoff can consistently provide that for me.
