Bogus Skill : About That Time I Became Able to Eat Unlimited Numbers of Skill Fruits (That Kill You)
外れスキル《木の実マスター》 ~スキルの実(食べたら死ぬ)を無限に食べられるようになった件について~
It is said that the sole way to gain skills is to eat a fruit called Skill Fruit. Each person may eat only one during their life, as ingesting a second would result in instant death. Light Underwood wishes for a powerful skill that would allow him to become an adventurer with his childhood friend Lena Floria. When the day of selection arrives, the excited boy regrettably acquires Fruitmaster, a skill which merely improves his cultivation of fruits. Even worse, he is separated from Lena when she obtains an exceptional ability. Although disappointed by the result, Light begins his life as a farmer and takes in a young girl named Ayla Lawrence. One day, due to a misunderstanding, the two consume Skill Fruits. However, instead of dying, Light miraculously receives a second skill, suited for combat, with his original ability. Now seemingly the only person who can gain multiple skills, Light wants to catch up to Lena and make history as the strongest adventurer. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Warning: The plot doesn't finish in this season! Yes, you read right, the anime finishes in the middle of the story. This anime is simply too bad (too low-budget) to have a plot that doesn't finish in a single season. It should have been one of those anime that you turn your brain off before you watch, finish it in this season, and then will forever forget that you have watched it. Animation: 3/10. They save all their budget for the fighting scenes, but they are still poor. Characters: 3/10. The MC goes from a nobody to suddenly being OP with no effort, and then his character developmentstales there. The character development is the worst aspect of this anime. Plot: 3/10. Superficial single-minded mini-bosses; almost no development of the main villain; and uninteresting side quests. This plot is all over the place and doesn't tackle the actual villain in this season at all. I can't fathom how someone thought this would be a good story to animate... I also can't believe how would they get a second season to be accepted, since this anime is so bad I'm sure they lost their investment animating it.

Honestly pretty solid show. I am very impressed by the sheer fact that it is just a plain ass regular fantasy, no isekai shenanigans here. Furthermore, although the premise itself is a little lackluster, the exection is completly on point. I love the main villin, the holy sister, her development is very well executed and makes for a very thrilling mysterious antagonist. The supporting cast is also amazing, yes its somewhat harem adjacent, but its not bad by any means. The main character is pretty mid, light has not to much to offer other than being a relativly generic nice guy, unfortunately. Pretty solid fantasy show,I recommend it, it should not be a 5.7 on mal that is a travesty

This show is aggressively bad. Despite the show's name and premise, the MC, Light, refuses to use his OP skill for no reason leading to constant frustration, and it's only made worse when the show itself has characters treat Light as competent and intelligent while everything we see shows him to be an incompetent moron. Unlike most anime, where viewers often resent time spent on side-arcs not relevant to the main story and main character, Light is so incredibly annoying that when the entire second half of the show completely abandons him to focus on side characters, it is actually a noticeable improvement.Sadly the side story ends, which means if there is a second season we'll have to go back to hating Light as he continues to act like a moron for no reason. Avoid this show.

It's very inconsistent quality and start of extremely bad. But it has some episodes here and there worth of calling a "6/10" but at it's worst it's like "2/10" so on average a 4/10 seemed fair. First I'll say the positive things: -The Intro kind of slaps -Lena is a W from the start, and kind of stays that way through the series. -Occasionally there's good writing a like... hints of actual character depth mostly in episodes which include Lena be it a coincidence or not. -There's decent character design -The world building is fairly okay as well. Alright on to all of the problems: -Lazy (missed opportunity, you could have made itabout the MC having to find a creative way to use his seemingly useless skill, instead he never actually uses it again apart from very early on and like 1 other time. Halfway through episode one they already ruined the premise of their own story. But worst of all they don't even execute the lazy solution properly and correctly as they don't have him simply become OP even though there's 0 reason he shouldn't be able to. I get into detail on my reviews on each episodes specifically but essentially another one of the biggest issues is logical flaws. Things that quite simply don't make any sense, people having authority they shouldn't, but also just things that make no sense happen all the time. I don't want to mark my comment as a spoiler but from here on out I'll discuss slightly more detailed things and criticism so if you want to go in completely blind I would recommend you stop reading here. -You gained the power to solve food shortages and world hunger, obviously there's gonna be a catch but even if there wasn't it defenitly seems like an easy skill just get rich off. Meanwhile he's out here selling weird singular grapes. Like tf, that's not how grapes work. They aren't necessarily a bad choice as they are seen as expensive and wealthy in most ages throughout history but that's not how you grow and harvest them. -Of course he bloody adopted a child, sure why not. -Creativity is out of the window lol "eats another fruit and instantly acquires "sword god" undoing the whole plot of the bloody show" There's a 100 different directions you could have taken his skill and plenty of them would have been interesting but "nope." Also FYI if it's just legal to produce skill fruits like that why did they have to wait for like some silly ceremony thing like... what. WDYM "two skills" my man are you actually like mentally challenged, the reason I was pissed was because of this silly writing, you can just eat the whole crate of skill fruits and become a demi-god, that's why I was annoyed at the dumb writing. (Nvm the fact that the child used multiple fruits in the food so she should actually be dead but okay) It's also so silly anyway because being immune to the poison shouldn't make the skill fruit work. That'd mean every single person with some form of poison immunity skill would just be able to eat multiple fruits. Heck just make an antidote for the poison, even if it's cyanide that'd still be somewhat possible I'm sure there's some skill who can do that or even straight up just "heal" the poison. I'm starting to be convinced this was written by AI. B series was way too generous this is like a D series. -at some point they try to convince you fire doesn't conduct electricity.

I'm just going to keep this short and brief. Firstly, full disclosure: I like the isekai genre. I don't care if its cookie cutter, its one of those guilty pleasures I have; I want you to understand that much about me so that when I say this anime was a big disappointment and waste of time, you know how low my standards are. I like the over powered trope, and Light, the protagonist falls into that category at first glance. Make no mistake, he has tons of potential to be extremely OP. But he doesn't. There isn't even a good justification for why he doesn't,he'll only acquire a new skill if he's in a bad situation. Why? There is few things more frustrating to me than watching someone who has the ability to do incredible things...not do them. It's like that "I need to hide my true power!" trope; It's supposed to be relatable or have some sort of reasoning, but its just lazy. It's not cool watching people hide their strength and just look down on everyone else until they "reveal". So the other option is if they aren't going to be OP, they have to put effort and work to achieve something. But that doesn't happen either with Light. In truth just about every other character is more interesting than him. As I said earlier, Light will resort to his OP skill only when he's struggling and it makes it not a struggle anymore. The premise really could've gone somewhere, even with generic progression it might've been cool; This is just wasted potential, just like Light and his skill.
