They survive and seek refuge in the nearby mountains. Here Kuro and his brother meets the three dogs, Blue, Bell and Ned. In the beginning, the adult dogs act friendly towards the pup, but then they start to use them to steal food from the humans. One day Kuro stands up to Blue and refuse to steal anymore.
