His daughter is Michiru Saotome, and his son is Tatsuhito, all of whom work and live with him at the Saotome Research Institute. Professor Saotome is also usually the man in charge of recruiting suitable new Getter Robo pilots, often through cruel and dangerous tests of strength and will. Getter Robo: Armageddon features the largest departure for his character, casting him as the main antagonist of the show and with a more overtly insane personality.
