His dream is to become a professional hot-air balloon pilot. He convinced Ash and his friends, whom he just met, to participate in a Pokémon Balloon Race. His father Tenma lent Ash and his friends a Pikachu-shaped balloon. During the course of the race, Team Rocket sabotaged many of the competition's balloons and then cheated by using a rocket launcher on Ash's Noctowl and Pikachu. Skyler used his Fearow's Drill Peck to destroy Team's Rocket rocket launcher and save Ash's Pokémon. He tied for first place with Ash; they both won the first place prize, a hot-air balloon engine. However, Ash fully passed the prize onto Skyler to help him fulfill his dreams.
