She was kidnapped by Kouchin when Fuusuke was 5 years old, so that the mysterious archbishop of the Empire could put his plans into action. In the anime, Yamabuki was born with the gift of controlling the power of Feng Shui, and would be used as a sacrifice to awaken the Tenkuu Ryuu (Sky Dragon), so that Kouchin could tame the beast and become its master.
