An extremely relevant figure in the Void Century, Joy Boy played an important role in the history of Fish-Man Island and left behind a certain item of unimaginable value on the last island of the Grand Line, thus becoming a legendary and remembered figure in the world. He was first mentioned on the Poneglyph read by Nico Robin while at the Sea Forest. He once had a Devil Fruit which allowed him to transform into the legendary "Son God" Nika, causing him to become a key part of the figure's mythos. Following his death, this Devil Fruit eluded capture for eight centuries until being consumed by Monkey D. Luffy. When Luffy awakened the fruit 12 years later, Zunesha proclaimed that Joy Boy had returned. In this form, Luffy has been given the "Joy Boy" moniker by Emet and Nerona Imu, who both personally knew the original man.
