She mainly appears in the company's promotional DVDs and edutainment materials, where she is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi. Hatena gained a decent fan following in the Japanese online fandom because of her cute design, resulting in some fan arts in Pixiv and becoming a hot topic in videos uploaded to Nico Nico Douga. Naturally, her popularity has led her to make two appearances in 2channel's Saimoe tournament.
