He saved Yuuki from an attack by another vampire when she was little. Kaname is the class president of the Night Class, much feared and respected by the other Night Class students. While he is cold and authoritative towards his fellow students in the Night Class, he is always kind and sweet to Yuuki. He has shown that he cares deeply for Yuuki ever since he saved her, and loves her in a romantic sense. As a Pureblood, Kaname is capable of controlling lesser vampires, but he chooses not to exercise his powers, thus earning the respect of the Noble vampires. He shares the Chairman's hopes for peace between vampires and humans. He worked with the Chairman to create the Night Class at Cross Academy and with his presence, allows the Night Class to be kept in check. Kaname is Yuuki's older brother and the progenitor of the Kuran family. He was awakened by Rido Kuran who used the blood of Haruka and Juri's first born child (who was also named Kaname and is Yuuki's true older brother) but sealed himself within the child. He compressed his memories of his past life so that he would be able to grow up as the child that Haruka and Juri had lost. Though as he grew older, his memories started to come back. As Rido was the one who woke Kaname from his sleep, Rido is his master and Kaname can not kill him. Kaname threw his heart into the hunter's furnace to stop the war between hunters and vampires. Afterwards, he told Yuuki how much her existence meant to him, then gives Zero and Yuuki his blessing to be together. Before Kaname's body began to disintegrate, Hanabusa froze it with an ice coffin. It was later revealed that Yuuki was pregnant with Kaname's child, Ai, which Zero decides to take care of together with Yuuki. Hanabusa finds Kaname's research to cure vampires and turn them into humans which he later completes. After 1000 years, Yuuki sacrifices herself to turn Kaname into a human. He is currently under Ai and Ren's (Zero and Yuuki's child) care, as he listens to their stories and memories from the past 1000 years.
