More far-sighted than most of the other male seikishi, the only reason he seems to follow Dagmyer is to see how far his ambitions and dreams can take him. When the students fight the bandit forces to retake the Holy Land, Alan and his friend Neil stay out of the battle as they have no desire to fight their own classmates, and they surrender peacefully to the students when Dagmyer is defeated.
