サムライガン
It is the beginning of the industrial revolution, and feudal Japan is in turmoil. The ruling Shogun are wielding their abusive powers to instill fear and dominance over their oppressed subjects. Beatings, imprisonment, rape and even murder are the adopted tactics chosen to maintain their reign. The bloodshed must end. A group of Samurai have banded together, and, with the development of new weapons and new technology, they have both the will and the hardware to stand up and fight. Ichimatsu is one of these fighters. By day, he works incognito at a local tavern, in the evenings he frequents the brothels, and by the dark of night, he doles out some big-time, gun-barrel justice. He is here to help. He is Samurai Gun. (Source: ANN)

Guns were used in that era, so the idea isn't that original, since it's the same, just using more modern guns. There's a story going on in the background, namely; The family of the main character got killed and he's out for revenge, sort of, he doesn't want to kill, yet, he want's to kill the guy who did it. Besides that, story's go from episode to episode, which are all just as unintresting as a shaved armpit. The art's good, there's some major quality loss in good animated scene's, or just scenes which are done too quick (I presume). The sound's good, at first, youcan hear the voice-actors struggle a lot to do a good job, but after the first 2 episode's they got used to it. The animation's nothing special, a lot of looping and slow/bad animation, while some scene's have incredible animation (for that time), but in those scene's the artstyle changed or got bad. There are some intresting characters, which we know nothing about, we get some unnecessary flashbacks and quote's, relations that don't matter etc. They don't have deep backgrounds, the only thing intresting about them is probably your very own thought about them, and the way they look. There's not much enjoyment, unless you don't care about a story or good quality. It's just an anime if you need a quick fix, or if your really into samurai series with a small twist too it. And that brings the total score to exact: 5

Samurai Gun is a great anime for a shoot'em up good time. It puts a spin on the whole samurai genre by the main characters using pistols instead of katana's. Don't expect too much of a deep story line and take it for what it is. The art sort of reminds me of Ninja Scroll and the characters are pretty unique. I find their costumes a bit funny in all those different colors. Nonetheless I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good samurai fictional title.

Samurai Gun - An anime without a goal Samurai Gun is an anime adaptation of the original manga with the same name. It began airing on October, 4 and ended on December, 4 of 2004 and it was animated by Studio Egg, best known for anime that people don't care. You don't need to read the full synopsis to know more about this particular anime because, once more, no one cares. "(...) A group of Samurai has banded together, and, with the development of new weapons and new technology, they have both the will and the hardware to stand up and fight. Ichimatsu is one of thesefighters. By day, he works incognito at a local tavern, in the evenings he frequents the brothels, and by the dark of night, he doles out some big-time, gun-barrel justice. He is here to help. He is Samurai Gun." As said, guns were in fact used in this era, so that's true, this isn't an original idea. In one hand, Samurai Gun can be seen as a revenge story about Ichimatsu and his family. In another hand, Ichimatsu doesn't want to kill anyone, except the guy who actually did it. Besides that, people don't need to watch the rest of the episodes because it gets more and more uninteresting and Ichimatsu breaks the golden rule of not killing other people except that particular evil figure. The art is just decent in the first three episodes but then, it gets kinda bad until the end. The sound process was kinda the only good thing but as the anime progresses, it becomes very repetitive. In fact, there are interesting characters but they aren't explored at his core, making them unexplored. This anime is great for people that don't give a damn about a good plot or good quality animation because it fulfills those person's desires. This is just an anime to add to your "Complete" list as something degradable. Samurai Gun is just a poor story and my expectations were all shattered. Basically, a shit anime. It was purely a waste of time. Story: 2 | Art: 2 |Sound: 3 | Character: 3 | Enjoyment: 2 Score: 3

I liked this anime a lot but there were a few things that bothered me. Yes, in that time they had guns but most of it was extremely inaccurate! I could get into historical detail but most of you know what is and isn't historically correct. Also, during the ending credits, the one picture with the fish? I found that very disturbing in a couple different ways. I own the series so of course I love it but yeah, some things bother me.

In the time of the Shogunate, fierce warriors roam the countryside, raping and murdering innocent people. The only hope for peace lies with one man and a group of samurai who want nothing more than to bring down the bad guys. My thoughts: I enjoyed this anime. It's about fighters known only as Samurai Gun. They go up against the Shogun who do anything they can to instil fear and to dominate the people. I like that it wasn't only men, but also women that were Samurai. The story is good and in a ways shows a bit of transition of weapons; from sword to guns.
