intro to each episode is basically a 15 second introduction with him introducing the setting and his litte sister makes ecchi joke at beginning If you can get past the animation of this show, then you'll find a very good show of comedy/slice of life talking about the humorous things Osakans do. Couldn't decide whether to pick 8 or 9 so i picked 9 since its underrated.

The only good thing about this series is the porn that's going to be coming from it. The jokes fall flat most of the time, but damn if I wouldn't hit that Imouto like the fist of an angry god.

I have seen my fair share of anime shorts, this was quite possibly one of the most enjoyable ones I seen so far. Boku no Imouto wa "Osaka Okan" is a show full of humor as it playful shows off and explains numerous stereotypes of people from Osaka. The animation is not all that impressive and the voice cast is limited as is the case with most shorts, but it still doesn't take away from the characters or the story. The brother and sister pair well together (as true brother and sister). Namika (the little sister) is cute, lovable, and 100% Osakan, Kyousuke (the brother) generallygoes along try to make sense of his Osakan little sister, and Kaede (the Little sister's best friend) helps round out the cast. I went into watching this having little to no expectations and upon completion was astounded and highly entertained. This anime short contained likable characters, was very humorous, extremely entertaining, and a must watch in my opinion. Trust me you won't regret it.

Have you ever experienced (or at least imagined) someone close to you going to a distant place, staying there for a considerable period of time, and returning as an entirely different person from your point of view? That's how things happened for Kyousuke Ishihara, whose younger sister Namika has returned to Tokyo from Osaka after being separated by family circumstances for the past ten years. And with that, we are introduced to the short anime series 'Boku no Imouto wa "Osaka Okan"'. For anyone else, there isn't really much that this 12-episode series has to offer, with each episode running just 3-4 minutes long. Though theartwork still looks decent from my point of view, the animation quality is the major letdown here. Where it redeems itself is the fact that this show aims on educating not just the non-Osakan Japanese, but everyone all over the world the ways of Osakan life, and how it differs from the way of life in metropolitan Tokyo. Ten years. That long period of time is more than enough for anyone to adopt the customs, ways of communication, and many other aspects of culture of a place different from their true hometown. And for those ten years, Namika Ishihara has become a full-blown 'Osaka momma', as how the translators put it. Now, how can an Osakan like her spark some humor in the show? For those who are Japanese, or have a good understanding of the Japanese culture, the humor is in the interactions between Kyousuke (the Tokyoite) and Namika (the Osakan), with interesting results. If you're ever planning to go to Japan sometime in the future (that includes me) and include Osaka in your list of itineraries, try watching this series. Though the 'Osaka Rules' presented here are just the tip of the iceberg, it's better to know a few things about Osaka beforehand. Watching this series in one go isn't impossible; it should take around three-quarters of an hour to watch all 12 episodes. For all the flaws that this show might have, it still has a hidden message that it wants to tell everyone: Dealing with a family member, relative, or friend who has adopted a cuture different from that of your homeland's isn't entirely a bad thing; rather, it is to be regarded as a learning experience. Plus, you'll never know when you might get the opportuninty to, or have to go to the place where they've gone to before; the knowledge you've gained about their culture will definitely prove useful.

I stumbled upon this anime while looking at random shows on Crunchyroll. I had low expectations for it, since I really just wanted something quick to watch. While I was satisfied to a certain extent, there were still some flaws in this show. I dislike how the intro to most of the episodes is the same explanation that gets shorter as the show goes on. I would understand if they cut it off at about episode 3, but on the 10th episode, do you really need to still explain that you were an average boy living an average life until your Osakan sister came along? Ialso dislike the ending song, if you wanna call it that. Bath tub songs aren't the thing for me. Other than the intro and the ending song, I also hate the pink hair girl. Why is she even included in the show? She doesn't have any character development, and she doesn't even have a dedicated episode. I could have respected her if she had a crush on the main guy, but i'm not even sure of that since she has no special episode. What I did like about this show was the comedy. Sure, I didn't get every joke, since this anime was geared towards Osakans who wanted to see what they looked like from an outsider's point of view, but the jokes I did get were humorous, although they didn't have me on the floor laughing. I can see a Japanese person laughing though. Now, individual ratings Story (3): lol what story Art (5): I'm guessing they couldn't afford... you know... good animation, but the animation techniques they did use made the show look good. Sound (6): Main character sounds like a pussy. His sister sounds annoying. Pink haired girl was also annoying. Character (4): You know what I hate? An anime with a total cast of 3 people. The pink haired girl didn't even need to be included into the anime, she was just a shitty +1. Enjoyment (6): As I said before, I came here for the comedy and shortness. I was satisfied in those two fields, but the show fails in every other field for me, but I didn't come for that, so i won't include that in the enjoyment factor. Before you go watch this show (this doesn't apply to you if you've watched the show already and just wanted to see what everyone else thinks of it), make sure you know what you're getting into. You won't get every joke, if you aren't Japanese. If you want to do something better with the ~30 minutes you'll spend watching this show, do it. You can live the rest of your life being satisfied without watching this show. If you are really curious about this show, just know, I warned you.
