Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.: Henneko BBS

The specials were actually better than the anime itself. These short episodes felt much more entertaining. I don't think you need to watch the series for the enjoyment of the specials, they're very cutesy and a joy to watch. There wasn't exactly a story, just Youto and Tsukiko presenting their own little show talking about pictures of the other characters. Tsukikos voice actor was mainly enjoyable. With only two of the main characters, actually makes these fun shorts entertaining to watch. The only thing that bothered me was the cliche "you're a pervert" that Tsukiko always says to Youto and him usually denying it, or going along with it. His same usual character. It got really old, really fast. Overall: 6/10

It's funny how this nice series of shorts make look this anime as more slice-of-lifey and comedic than it actually ends up beign, as those two elements take actually a secondary role to the drama and often bittersweet psychological action of the main series. It makes you think of this show perceives itself and what it tries to convey, and a potential tonal dissonance that could have arisen as the series went by. But I don't want to get into such profound matters over what is essentially a series of teasers to hype-up the coming anime, the main IP of this property. As I mentioned before,Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko: Henneko BBS leans into the more comedic and light-hearted aspects of the show to deliver us a little scenario on which Yokodera and Tsukiko become to host of a program on which they analyze photos of many funny situations during the show. These situations could be summarized to: Yokodera creeping on Tsukiko and taking photos of her while she isn't aware, Yokodera thirsting over other woman (which generally ends-up in Tsukiko getting angry and jealous at her partner in a very funny and non-serious way), and Tsukiko thirsting over Yokodera in a couple of the final "episodes". Yep, that is it, pretty much. When rounded up, these shorts take less than 7 minutes to finish watching, so there's isn't really anything more profound or complex they could have tried when created this animation, even if they wanted. I won't say this is a "must watch" for fans of HenNeko, because it isn't, it is just promotional material. But hey, it only takes 6 minutes and 30 seconds to watch, and it will surely get a laugh or two out of you for its absurd situations and comical setting. I would give it a chance, especially if I wanted to get a 100% experience on animated HenNeko. Just so you can keep in mind that if deciding to give this a watch or not.
