The Genesis
創世記
This is a short film parodying the major Hollywood film "The Creation" directed by John Houston. This film has the look of a tongue-in-cheek production, done on a small budget by animators who wanted to make fun of great works that cost enormous sums of money. (Source: ANN)

Apart of Tezuka's 13 experimental films, Genesis is a parody of the beginning of man, women, animals and the world. Osamu actually diverts the belief that man came first and women birthed from the rib of Adam in a most comical way. The film suggest that God failed with women (really though man and women failed themselves with war, crime and perversion of the world and material possessions and what have you.), that he should start over, but this time with man coming first and women second. There is not much of a story here, just a very early piece of animated parody witha interesting and comical suggestion on how the world and everything in it, came to be. Overall it is enjoyable and worth a watch for anyone looking to have a quick laugh.

Rate a 5 English Subtitled Warning this is based on not only religion but creation. Don't forget this is a person's view doesn't mean what you may think happen happened. Story What is originally thought to be the oldest story known told in an animation form takes an interesting spin. Sure, it informs you with old information but provides almost a background basis that was either left out of the bible or in more of an easier form to read. As for the conclusion it is was you would expect. Art -black and white - sure color could have been applied but given the plot it works well without it. For coloris perspective. How one sees things. Do you think an infant would know what black is and what purpose white serves? Most likely not. Sound A classical background. A good choice for depicting wide spread feelings in form of imagination. Character Enough information is provided to prevent questions. Enjoyment I suppose this has two parties of audiences. Those who are in religion school and those who want to reflect on life.

Souseiki is a short parody of the story of creation produced by the late, great “godfather of manga” himself, Osamu Tezuka. While not one of his best works and simple in plot, for what it is, I actually found this old short to be kinda funny and I don’t think time has affected that much. From the ridiculous, over the top depictions of the animals, to the 1 second Astro Boy cameo, and to the opposite take on women coming from men, instead making men into the shape of a certain body part, there’s a few parts that are quite amusing. It’s nothing revolutionary, butI wouldn’t say it’s bad either, it’s just a simple parody made for fun that might make you laugh a few times. Also, I think the classical music fit for showing how over the top and dramatic it is, especially with the imagery and the fact it’s making fun of major works.
