Three rotoscoped short animations taking a look at mundane work days. Slice-of-life done right. Stories that feel real, with real people in the real world. Something very missing in the genre. There is nothing much else to say here, but as MAL requires us to be prolix on reviews, making walls of text in an exercise of futility for those who can't be concise, or just like way too much reading themselves, here I go trying to reach the minimum 500 characters... not quite yet... wait for it... done! Wait, I was wrong, it's not 500, I hope it's not 1000. This is going to take awhile, areyou still reading? I will try to publish at 750 characters, the word counter of this review will pass the one of the animation this way... great system.... huh?

This was a fun little series of videos. They were directed by Shunji Iwai, a very famous Japanese film director who has under his belt "All About Lily Chou Chou", "Undo", "Fireworks", among other famous reputed movies. Town Workers is a series of 3 5-minute lenght short movies that follows young adults getting their first part-time jobs, showing them struggling, enjoying, and interacting with their fellow "town workers". At the end of the day, they get home. Tired, but with a sense of realization. Tired, but proud—It's what I felt. The animation is good. The use of rotoscopy served well the show, making it feel realistic, while preventing the show to feel dragged or heavy, and capturing this slice-of-lifey feel, capturing everyday, human feelings - and conveying them to the spectator. I recommend Town Workers to everyone. Especially to YOU.
