Basilisk: Ouka Ninpouchou

This is quite possibly THE worst anime I've ever seen. It doesn't have the worst animation in the world, and the opening theme is kinda cool, but aside from that, this show spits on its predecessor. And just when I thought the show couldn't get any dumber, it did. The first thing that had me scratching my head was the fact that the main characters can even exist at all. Simply put, their parents never had a chance to bang in the original series. But, whatevs. They wanted a sequel so we can suspend some disbelief. However, they completely change the lore of their twotechniques, adding in the Ouka, something that didn't exist in the original series and was basically pulled out of this writer's ass. The contradictions go on and on. But, all of this would be forgivable if it was used to tell a good story. Spoilers: it wasn't. The thing that made the original show so good was seeing how the shinobi utilized their bizarre techniques. In Ouka Ninja Scrolls, the abilities are so watered down and boring, and aren't even used in creative ways. In the original there was the girl who could drain blood with skin contact, so she had to use her feminine wiles to seduce and deceive her enemies. In Ouka, the equivalent girl just stands there and induces lust. Much less interesting. Essentially, all the abilities and how they are used are much less interesting, which is a shame because that's what makes ninja fighting shows good. But the worst part of it all is the story. SPOILERS AHEAD... not that you should care. The main villain is a discount version of Pain from Naruto. He wants people to know suffering so they'll choose peace, need more war, blah blah blah. But apparently he needs Nobunaga to do it. Yes, THAT Nobunaga. Why can't he just be the warlord? Dunno. He's got a castle that magically appears and is moving to Edo. Why can't the castle just appear by Edo? Dunno. In order to revive Nobunaga he needs the main characters to kill each other... or bang. Doesn't matter which. I've got no words for that one. And it just goes on and on getting worse and worse. Seriously, this anime is like peeling the layers of the Stupid Onion. I've seen some dumb shit, and sometimes I even like dumb shit, but this is not even so bad it's good. This is just bad to the core. Save yourself 8 hours and learn how to use Microsoft Excel instead. You'll have more fun.

Ever wanted an anime like Naruto except the Ninja world is ran by bunch of kids who are into incest? Well here is a little something for your specific taste. Basilisk Ouka Whatever is a pretty fun anime when it comes to ninjutsu arts and samurai swordo fights. All sort of obscure weapons are wielded, blood splat, and body count is nothing but a number in this cold ninja world. This raises the question: Why fight tho? This because the world consists of two different ninja clans and they don't like each others very much, so naturally they want to slap each others shit and kill everyonewho doesn't share their blood line. Unfortunately, different opinions exits even within these prideful clans, some type of romeo Et juliet level side tracking plotlines start rolling in from here and there. Could an alliance like this actually give the world piece and unite the two ninja clans? Let me put it in this way: the entirety of the story could have been told in 4 episodes, but for some reason it is 24 long. Most of our characters are generic and old fashioned in the typical samurai/ninja way. Rational thinking and fair judgement are only in the way when these warriors give their review. The important part is to preach your own flawless bullshit. The most original factor of our cast lies not within their personalities and characteristics, but in their ninja powers. The foolish pride with the rather black'n white world create somewhat interesting settings for the main story and the lead kids who are not yet molded and influenced by it all to their very cores. I was able to enjoy this series more than I expected thanks to this factor. It's rather interesting to witness what type of decisions our kids make and what type of people they develop into. This is the biggest reason why I didn't drop the show. Production wise, some interesting music choices have been made, and the art quite well captures the world the story takes place into. Other than that, not much is worth of noting. I.e. quite average series which can easily be seen as both: bad and fine. I enjoyed the good things in it rather than was annoyed by the bad.

This anime is worse than bad. It is DREADFUL. Comlpete and utter mockery compared to the awesomeness of the original Basilisk. A complete waste of time. I watched it because the old one is a must-watch classic for any fan. I've heard it's bad, but I had to see with my own eyes. I could not believe what I was watching and until the very final second of it was hoping that they are going to make it up , even little... I was so mistaken. It had no substance, no character development, no decent story, incoherent, no decent fights, it had one big NOTHING...worse than lowbudget cartoon show for little children. I am utterly disgusted by the whole production and the people who made this abomination of an anime and linked it in any way possible with the great Basilisk (the original)

It's an abomination that dare to use Basilisk as it's base. I've never enjoy any single of the episode of this anime. It's dragging to long, 24 episodes just to see how mediocre the character and the story? 24 episodes of nothing! It even shouldn't exist in the first place. It's such a disgrace of the REAL Basilisk. Story The story is the most horrible part. This looks like a fanfic written by a b*tthurt Basilisk fan who doesn't want to acknowledge the ending of REAL Basilisk. It's just 2 mc who looks excatly as Gennosuke and Oboro, but actually siblings (WHO LOVES EACH OTHER). Incest is heavilyimplied in this anime, which is disturbing! The story is so absurd and nonsense, I'm so disappointed on myself for wasting 2 days to watch it. The story is focusing on bunch of lame ninpou fighting the evil who suddenly appeared. It's more like a shounen than a seinen, but Basilisk is a SEINEN! I love Basilisk because of the drama that feel REAL, not like a half-bake shounen like this. If I want to watch good shounen, I know what I should watch instead of this abomination! I don't mind if you make this one, but don't you dare putting Basilisk in the title. This is not even a Basilisk! This is a pathetic story writing that borrow from Howl's Moving Castle, Basilisk, Naruto, GeGeGe no Kitarō and many more. They wasted lots of episode just to talk and bring everyone's sad past to make it longer. I skipped a lot of episodes and still can guess what will happen next. Story is too predictable. Yes, the Basilisk too, kinda predictable, but it's enjoyable because we can feel what the characters feel, I even cried at the end of the REAL Basilisk. Character It's nothing like Basilisk. In Basilisk, you can connect with the characters, I, myself dislike Tenzen because he's a rapist, but I like Hyoma because he has the sense of loyalty. The character design is bold which is good. What about this prequel? Nothing... The design is meh, also sad past doesn't mean I need to pity you or I can connect with you. Their sad pasts are mostly ridiculous too (won't spoiled it). Now about their Ninja Magic aka Ninpou, while the REAL Basilisk has lots of variety with this, the prequel is a zero! Hello, Gun girl? Yes, I'm looking at you. Rhino boy, flying eyes boy who looks like Kitaro? Eye-patched girl who can shed tears and a drop of the tear can make men h*rny. If you want to make it has sexual appeal like Akeginu and Kagerou, you shouldn't make a kid do the job. Akeginu and Kagerou have sexual appeals because they are portrayed as mature grown-ups and don't act like a brat who pants like a crazy B whenever the insect boy (Shichigen) around her. It's annoying and disgusting. The only Basilisk in this prequel is the eyes of 2 mc. Even that, the mc is super annoying. Kouga Hachirou is a bs character who keeps whining, nothing like Gennosuke who act like a leader, he's useless piece of S who borrows the power and the appearance of Gennosuke. While Oboro is a bad leader (which she admits herself), she's still a loveable character, mainly because she's honest, and what about Hibiki? She's as annoying as her older brother. Useless without her piercing eyes. Oh, and all the battle is only including shooting bombs or cannons. Where's the jutsu everyone loves?? All they can do is using their one and only OUKA. Bleh!I don't feel anything for them, when they (RIDICULOUSLY) die, I laughed instead feel the pain. Death characters supposed to be sad, but instead I laugh. Music Mediocre, nothing like the first one. Some of the music even don't fit the scene. Animation Also Mediocre. Nothing praise-able Overall 0/10 NO! -100000/10 This disgrace shouldn't even exist in the first place!
