君は彼方
High schoolers Mio Miyamasu and Arata Kishimo are childhood friends. Mio harbors feelings for Arata, but she lacks the courage to express them. Even when her friend Madoka asks if she is in love with Arata, Mio reluctantly declines and encourages her friend to pursue her own feelings for him instead. Later, while Mio and Arata visit a fortune-teller, the boy notices a strange phenomenon and tries to drag Mio out of the shop—much to her annoyance. As Mio begins to question her relationship with Arata, an argument erupts between them. That night, feeling guilty for what had occurred, Mio ventures into the rain to apologize to Arata and make her feelings clear. However, an accident along the way turns Mio's world upside down. I wasn't initially gonna write a review for this, but since the naming convention of this film was the one that fancied my senses, I should at least give my 2 cents to say that this film made by one person: the infamous Yoshinobu Sena who did the "so bad, it's bad" Vampire Holmes, how does Kimi no na wa...ahem, sorry, Kimi no Kanata fare against many others who did the same thing? In one word: NO. In more words: HELL NO. Please do not waste your time on this film just because the film title just cringes you on it being the vastly inferior productto the movies that inspired the creation of this wishy-washy movie. Story and plot is superbly unoriginal and contrived, characters are hella one-note deficiencies for infodump and nothing else, sound is just poor too. The movie funnily enough, makes you feel like you're watching a Direct-to-TV film that's not even Disney-like quality with Digital Network Animation's (for short, DNA, which I'd bet that the 23 pairs of chromosomes are all connected in disparity) alright but poor to at best, decent visuals. Save your 95 mins of time and watch 4-5 TV anime episodes or a film that'd make your time more useful. This is a piss-poor worthy cringe film.

It's not bad but not too good either. It's a very chill movie that you watch some afternoon to pass the time and it's nice to see. (+) The animation is decent and it feels cute and positive. They added some fantasy. The romance is also adorable but the reasons they have issues are for dumb reasons. (-) The plot lacks so many extraordinary features, the characters are too generic, they tried to add something supernatural with some character but at the end it's irrelevant. Just a passing dream. Not intriguing, not exciting. Even with the darkest and the most melancholic mood I think that I wouldn'tbe too attached to this. At least it has a passing score.

*Light spoilers ahead* TLDR Below. Imagine having Your Name combined with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, stretch it infinitely long, and mix 1 or 5 genres of your choice. You get this mess. This excruciatingly long boring mess of just silly characters with melodrama that doesn't even fit the frame it is presenting. I must stress there is nothing wrong with generic titles. Not everything has to be innovative of the past, a push of simplicity is beautiful anyway, but quality matters regardless. KimiKana doesn't even understand that basic fact. Story's out here having a bigger identity crisis than Bloom Into You, seriously, this turns into a Disneymusical halfway through with some action sequences to follow on. The only important character here is Mio, you can forget anything to do with Arata, the dude doesn't even take at least half of the screen time, but apparently, he is a very important person (you can tell because he has superpowers). There are also people who you won't care about having relationship ties as if we've seen 20 episodes of this nonsense before. Just one big ambitious mess. I have to give praise to the audiovisuals though, well, for the trailer, because that is one of the reasons I watched this. Everything in the movie does not correlate to the trailer. It is just basic plain budget-cutting stuff you see in mid-tier seasonals, which, doesn't mean it is bad, but doesn't mean it is unique or anything to praise. This movie probably has one of the few times where I can say something has "bad audio", in the sense that the use was bad not the actual sound that I could hear. I am going to have some very strong words with Sena Yoshinobu for allowing me to know some wild direction could even exist. Anyways, this was too boring for me to enjoy, chances are it will be the same for you. I will give it praise in that the only thing I liked about this was the flamboyant moments and the wholesomeness that draws later on. Other than that, I don't recommend watching this one. Watch the two titles mentioned prior. Your Name for a good supernatural drama. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time for life lessons that are actually coherent. TLDR: The movie is a mess of story and characters you don't really care about. Audiovisuals are mid. So everything adds up to be boring as hell but has some good flamboyant scenes. ---- I have to say I was eager to watch KimiKana anyway. In addition to a hot trailer, the lack of talk from it was something that made me more interested in it, plus some said it was bad so I had to verify that myself. My curiosity is satisfied however and I have to say, even though it was just bad, I am happy to have seen it anyway.

The title and image cover looked really pleasing, and as I really enjoyed really similar (from cover) animes like "Kimi no na wa" or "Hello World" I decided to give a try this movie, even though reviews were really harsh. And sadly they happened to be true. Nothing adds to the story and overall, so I will divide the story into 3 parts: beginning, middle of the movie, and end. The beginning doesn't necessarily feel bad. The art is decent, the overall introduction to the story is okay. At this point, I thought it will be another enjoyable show. I don't know what happened to this moviein its middle. It's either beyond my understanding of the anime, or it is one of the worst plots I've ever seen. Everything that happens is really weird. The vibe is completely off, you just don't feel enjoyment watching this for some reason. The ending appeared to be pretty okay, but turned out bad, without any emotions - the characters are just bland. The whole story feels rushed, without any sense, the viewer can hardly know what's going on with the whole story, everything is just not right there. Art and sound are just a hit and miss every time. Art feels really good at the beginning (kind of reminds you of Kimi no na wa and other great shows), but during the movie, you can tell it's just a cheap copy. There are moments when you say "dude this art is just awful" and there are moments when it feels really nice. I can't tell why it is like that. Characters? They are just existing. Their expressions and emotions are so off. Everyone in this movie looks dead inside (as well as me when I'm watching this). They kill the overall vibe, which is already not good. So from what I understood, the whole moral of the story is something like "live to the fullest, don't be afraid doing things in life, because you never know when will be your last day" or something like that. I feel it's not a bad idea for the movie, but the execution in Kimi wa Kanata was painfully bad. Everything in the movie feels like it would do a good show overall, but apparently, it didn't work out - a really weird feeling. If you are still wondering, should you watch this movie, you probably shouldn't, but if you want to waste over 90 minutes on watching this then go on. I can't recommend this show, I really wish it would have been done better. It just lacks many things, I can't even explain how complex is the problem of this show.

It was July 2020, I was just starting watching anime and exploring MAL and found a movie that looked very promising. It looked similar to Your Name, which I loved, so I wanted to give it a try. I waited patiently until the release, in November. The day thay movie aired... nothing happened. Not the day after, not in a week, not for a long time. "It was badly received" "It was only showed two times on cinemas" "Rakuten only sells it raw and within Japan" was what I could see from different pages and the official website. I was losing all hope until somedays ago I happened to look for it again. And to my great surprise, it was there, it was not fake. So I decided to watch it at night yesterday, which I did. Was it worth to look for it so much? Let's find out. *SPOILERS AHEAD* Story: 6.5/10 - The story centers arround Mio and Arata, the typical childhood confession and an accident that transported her to a parallel world. So far so good. What happens then is a very rare mix of everything possible. A colourful world with spirits reincarnated on things she remembered, her worst fears personified in giant monsters that chased her for the entire world and a lot, really lot of metaphoric uses. All of this which would have been perfect if there weren't so many plot holes and, mainly, non-explained things. Especially at the end. But hey, we won, right? Dale campeón. Art: 8.5/10 - As most movies that inspired in beautiful works like Your Name and A Silent Voice, Kimi wa Kanata has amazing landscape design. Each of the scenarios were beautifully drawn, and you could feel they were very inmersive. Also the character design were very charming and easy to like. Animation was fine, being great at little things like Mio's moving hair and fair at moments like her flight over the fish. An overall great thing that with a little more budget could have been even more amazing. Sound: 8.5/10 - Soundtrack was also something very special. All the orchesta was very nice and according to the movie. And both songs, To You (Mio's song) and Shunkan Dramatic (Ending) were incredible. I'm even listening to Shunkan Dramatic in loop as I write this. This is the part that creates great memories, and they achieved it by a lot. Character: 7/10 - Not very amazing but still nice. Mio and Arata were the typical two main characters that everyone like, and then we had the different supporting characters and the main 'antagonist' (was it one though?). They made the movie enjoyable without shining too much. Fair enough. Enjoyment: 8/10 - Being extremely strange and without sense for some times doesn´t make it less enjoyable. Even more, it makes it even better sometimes as I already knew this could be like that and wanted to feel something like this. I´m glad to find another 'falopity' show, those anime so strange that make you wonder about everything in their world. Overall: 7.5/10 - I don't really know how much to score this. I feel a 6 is definitively low, a 7 misses something but an 8 is too much for a movie that was so inconsistent for moments. Maybe I will give it an 8 in support for the movie, as 6.55 rating is not fair at all. But the real score for me is 7.50. Story: 6.5/10 Art: 8.5/10 Sound:8.5/10 Enjoyment:8/10 Character: 7/10 Overall: 7.5/10 --> 8/10 Should you watch it? Yeah, it's a very nice movie. Was it worth the wait? I would say YES.
