First of all, if you're reading this, why are you here? Anyways I stumbled upon this OVA on youtube after searching for ''90s anime OVAs'' and just clicked on something random and I decided to finish it for whatever reason. It doesn't make any sense, weird monster-like creatures and space girls fighting them. The main character is a pink haired girl with daddy issues, I don't fucking know. No need to elaborate more, if you just wanna consume every show imaginable and add it to your watched list go ahead, it's not insulting but it's pretty damn catshit even for 90s OVA standards.

Here we go again. A series without a review and considered one of the worst anime shows in existence and I just I have one single question. HOW THE HELL IS THIS ONE OF THE WORST ANIME IN THIS SITE? Please someone can explain to me how this is so terrible and hideous for some reason. First of all, this short OVA is based on an old videogame promotion of a PS1 game, with the same name and honestly it is just OK. But not signifcantly a piece of garbage like the mean score makes it out to be. The story is about a girl called Alice whois a prodigy in computers and one day a cyber attack occurs in the city she lives and since everything is connected to the internet, this attack causes a lot of trouble to the citizens. She discovers the problem and decides to transport herself and her friends to defeat this cyber attack. The premise itself, it is not bad and it is executed alright but to be called a crapfest, it is nothing like that. If you are looking for that go watch Idea Factory anime or Conception. I must say that some points in the story are not explained. But again its not cringy at all. The animation in this is very good for 90s Standards. The animation is flawless and there is nothing weird between frames or something like that and if you read my reviews you will know that I really love 90s animation and this one is not the exception, the color palletes used here are really good. Also the creature that appears here and ressembles the virus infecting the internet is very off putting but it is drawn really good to give that sensation. The characters are just tropes. Don't expect a lot of character development because there is none. But they do the job and basicly I just can talk about the main protagonist Alice, who is a child prodigy in computers, but at the same time she is trying to do her best in that area because she wants to have the best memories of her father with the technology they have. The opening is good, but with these promotions you got to accept that there is not going to be many changes in that regard from the source material, so in the end it is just the recycled music from the game, which is acceptable. But not memorable neither. The voice actors do a decent job. Nothing sounds forced and the characters sound properly for their age. Overall just watch it to kill time and see how 90s anime was besides the mainstream airing on TV. It is only 24 minutes in the end. Thanks for reading this review and see you around.

Definitely a product of its time with a moderately strong start and a pretty weak finish. Fans of the early internet's promise may find this entertaining, back when the world wide web was imagined as an alternative world for users to explore. Here, "cyberland" comes in layers to be delved by the avatars of heroes and misfits alike. The first episode is definitely the superior one. The animation is better, the story is stronger, the jokes hit better, the stakes are higher. The end-boss monster is tentaclicious per the era's norms. Its tendrils are probably the best animated things in the OVA. The second episode is alet down by comparison. The budget must have been blown on episode 1, because the animation is shoddy and stilted. The characters even appear to have been drawn from different stylesheet. Gone are the civilization-ending hackers. Instead our trio of protagonists get mixed up with a couple computer programs playing cat and mouse. Who cares? Frankly, it feels like a filler episode, even though it's 50% of the saga. Feeling nostalgic for a time when the internet was best understood by the movie "The Lawnmower Man"? Want to groove on a vaporwave soundtrack while three anime girls swing swords and dive past numerals? Then this might be for you. If none of that interests you, skip this and head for greener pastures.

It had a good 90s retrofuture aesthetic for a bit, but this was really gross and pervy and not worth watching because it's too short. The file I have for it has some neat ads attached to it at the end, though. I always liked the Sega Saturn/Playstation era of Japanese games aesthetically even if they didn't age well. There was also an ad for a second episode, but I am 90% sure that doesn't exist. Oh what it would be to live in that era where they made promotional anime episodes for stupid video games and whatnot. Oh wait, they still do that? Nevermind then.

This ova being subbed is such a dangerous double edged sword for it. The first episode is gorgeous but the second episode is basically entirely irrelevant to both the previous episode and, importantly, the entire video game following it, which remains untranslated. Taken on its own this ova is not very good but I can't say it's actually... bad? The animation in the second episode is terrible and the core plotline of it is flatly not very good, but it still has pretty entertaining dialog and some decent jokes. Having played the game, it shares some of the same problems as this ova but for havingmore casual downtime with the characters, and an actual ending, they're both much more satisfying placed in that fuller context. There's a lot of weird grey space between the ova and the game where it feels like there might have been plans for other media in between that never happened, but all of the basic ideas established in episode 1 are brought back up and resolved by the end of the game, including, surprisingly, smaller character stuff like Alice's reaction to Julie teasing her in the locker room, which isn't brought up directly but. The game has an entire optional chapter about Alice going on a date with a girl and effectively realizing that she's into women. So it's hard to say these two events are wholly unrelated. If you're able to play the game, and plan on doing so, this ova is worth watching. If you can't, you might be able to appreciate certain aspects of it but it is definitely going to feel extremely incomplete.
