It's just a continuation of the previous series so you can expect what was already present. But the story takes a bit more serious turn and focuses a bit on the past and background story of certain characters. It does move story forward quite a bit with new opportunities. Star system and the Thunderbolt system are still continuing to be a disappointing, because of the reasons they are obtained with. Plenty of laughs even with the darker episodes. The darker episodes show the reality and cruelty of war, it is a very good showcase of how pointless and brutal the wars are for no reason.Glad it continues to be an anti war anime. Showing that the greed and ambition of a few cost many their most precious valuable thing they have - their life.

At this point, Spy x Family isn't just a franchise about a spy, assassin, and family anymore. It's defined itself as the golden standard for a spy comedy shounen. With three TV seasons, movies, and games, its supremacy feels like it would remain unchallenged in similar themes. Now that we've come to known the main characters and story, how far can they push the boundaries in this season? One of the key ingredients that made this franchise successful is that its target audience is expansive and open. Practically anyone can watch this show as it's unrelated to any other franchise. Season 3 obviously requires previous knowledgeof the previous installations but you shouldn't be here anyway if you haven't seen those. Spy x Family Season 3 drops us right into where we are most comfortable with - Anya Forger and her beloved "family" in another spy comedy adventure. But this season allowed us to see the history and character background of Loid Forger, a complex character with pacifist views. His character personality is complex because of his role in the show, where he takes on the mission to adopt Anya and marry Yor to form a fake family. Because of this role, his personality often changes depending on what he's assigned to do. Taking on the alias 'Twilight', Loid exmplifies the characteristics of a professional spy. His way of controlling his emotions while planning ahead are just a few examples. However, his past was also complicated by the war from where he grew up. We see tragically how his life changed from a happy boy to a person who sees the reality of war. His loss includes his family and friends, and motivates him to be the spy we know today. It's a background story necessary to understand by watching and believing. One of the most entertaining story arcs also make its appearance that involves Anya, Becky, Damian, and the entire class. The 'Bus Hijacking Arc' is exactly how it sounds as their lives are put into danger when Anya's class is taken hostage. Neither Loid or Yor are there to save the day but instead, it's up to Anya and her mind reading abilities. She remains the key figure to determine what's real and fake while also helping law enforcement track down those criminals. As thrilling as it sounds, this arc also marks the lighthearted humorous moments as this show is known for. Yet, Anya continues to show her courage even when she realizes what's she's going up against. Similarly, Damian steps up to risk his life despite not having a special gift like Anya. This is a story arc that captures the emotions of kids being thrown into a hostage situations. It's an arc that brings out the best from its characters in many ways. Finally, Loid's spy skills are tested once again in the final arc of the season. It shows how he continues to handle missions in with his expertise in spy while dealing with new threats. Nothing should really surprise you here when we see how skilled Loid has been, something he's shown since the very first episode of the franchise. Spy x Family Season 3 delivers what it set out to do after that's continuing the legacy of a successful franchise. The third season has a deep dive into Loid Forger, a story arc that tests the limits of main cast, and continuing to also push the boundaries of a spy and family series.

I have always and will continue to be Spy x Family’s greatest defender. That said, while last season people complained about the slower pace and the show focusing on the Forger’s becoming a proper family, I think most people will see season 3 as a return to the sort of story we had in season 1 which was a nice mix of action, comedy, wholesome family dynamics and now we have the added romantic angle as Yor and Loid slowly, but surely, begin to see each other as more than a marriage of convenience. Not to mention the great and emotionally poignant backstory from Loid, the busjacking arc and the wheeler arc at the end. This was a much more action oriented series that should be appealing to casual fans and returning fans alike, while serving as a proper evolution in the story. Last season felt a bit more episodic, but this season does feel like every episode builds on the previous and by the end of it we see a great deal of character development from all our leads! I thoroughly enjoyed every episode of this and I’m very excited to see where Spy x Family goes from here! This season was really nonstop action, both emotional and physical. Right out the gate we got hit with Loid’s highly anticipated backstory arc which completely changed how I view him as a character and helped me understand why he’s the way he is. Before, I saw him as this perfect ultimate spy, but after seeing all the adversity he went through as a child, I appreciated every interaction with he and Anya so much more because he tries to be the father he always wanted! Generally, this season does a really good job humanizing Loid and making him feel like a person rather than an archetype. If season 2 focused on the family as a whole, season 3 takes a more individualistic approach giving Loid, Yor, Anya and even side characters like Fiona a time to shine FINALLY, we’re seeing some romantic development between Yor and Loid. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still crumbs for now, don’t expect anything massive, but the gears are turning and slow motion is better than no motion. They at least seem more aware of each other now, thanks in large part to Yor’s jealous ass work colleagues, but hey, we’ll take it. Drunk Yor trying to find faults in she and Loid’s marriage was one of the funniest parts of the entire series! She’s definitely began to realize how much of a catch Loid is and he’s realizing what he has with her. This is one of my favorite parts of Spy x Family because you have these two badass, extremely deadly individuals who can handle any weapon or task, but when it comes to romance they’re absolute idiots. Thanks to Loid’s backstory arc, we actually understand WHY he’s such an idiot with romance in this season and that helped me be a lot more patient and understanding with him. Anyone who’s been through that much has earned a little grace. My girl Anya is back and arguably better than ever. The busjacking arc was one of my favorite yet. The way she expertly navigated such a difficult and dangerous situation was awesome. Yes, she can read people’s minds, but knowing what people are thinking and doing the right thing with that information are two different things. I was so proud of her in that arc and she showed a lot of maturity and poise. You can see Loid and Yor rubbing off on her just like any other parents would for a kid. Also really enjoyed all of her moments with Damian this season. After the whole found family gradually becoming a real family dynamic, she and Damian’s relationship is my favorite part of this series. They are so cute, I just need her to stop seeing him purely as part of Loid’s mission and as an actual normal boy her age!! Damian’s family actually played a big role this season with Yor becoming close to Damian’s mom as well. I think that was such a cool development because Yor desperately needs a positive older sister type figure in her life as she’s constantly the one having to be the older sibling between she and Yuri. She often needs advice herself though, so having an older character acting as a mentor figure should be big for her growth! Some subtle Yuri vibes there too which is always great! I’m looking forward to learning more about Melinda. It’s also funny that she and Anya have both become so close to Damian’s family so Loid has multiple inroads with Damian’s father! Production values are amazing as usual this season. The big fight scenes look amazing, character designs and general animation are great too. You know what you’re gonna get from WIT/Cloverworks and they don’t disappoint. There’s a ton of love that goes into this show and it shines through every week. I’m consistently impressed at how good the fights in this look! The voice acting has always been one of the best parts of the series and it’s really good once again in this season. I actually got a chance to meet a few of the seiyuu at Anime NYC this year so that was a really cool point of emphasis for me this season. I could go on and on about how much I love this season, but I don’t want to drone on too much. To me, this was peak Spy x Family. Had everything we’ve come to know and love from the series while expanding with new characters, some development and setting up for future plot points. It’s hard to believe 13 episodes went by that quick because every single episode felt like it was only 5 minutes long! I really hope this is a sign of things to come because spy x family is looking better than ever. Spy x Family season 3 gets 9 out of 10.

*Spy x Family's new season continues its most discreet operation with grace and charm.* Unfortunately, I am still reluctant about the way Spy x Family progresses its story due to its moments of story downtime and sometimes putting certain characters on the sidelines, despite their early introductions in the first season. While it is great to finally have some character arcs and potentially some good emotional building, you have to stomach through average run-of-the-mill comedies that the author had in mind with their quips more amplified without any of the cleverness and subtlety it had in its first season. What issue the 2nd season had isstill present in this season. However, it is fortunate that it's less seen in this new season since it's a season of conflict and tension rising with new keypoints heading forward into the story. Diving into what issues I personally had with Season 3 were the comedy sections I mentioned earlier. In some cases, it feels like some of these characters are underutilised in certain scenes where they could have made it funnier or at least more amusing to watch; it relies on using cheap knock-offs with teacher NPCs or enemy terrorists trying to sabotage Ostania's political stance in the current situation. On top of that, earlier established characters are forgotten and somehow not allowed to intervene in these conflicts. Which brings me to the 2nd issue I want to discuss about the story: the characters are separated. The author tries to craft certain scenarios where only that specific character would shine without involving anyone else from the main cast. The problem surfaces when it deliberately sidelines those core characters and renders them unable to play a significant role in each of these cases. Yes, it's fine if it wants to show other supporting or side characters, but the story has an odd tendency to give them way too much precious screentime than needed when there are better characters worthy of it, which feels like wasted potential. It seems that the author was unable to counteract the issue of having separate character arcs as it means that any existing character dynamics are purposely sidelined or maybe even forgotten in pursuit of building the story with little impact on the main cast. Much of my enthusiasm is nowhere near the level I had with the 1st season, but it is more entertaining to watch than what Season 2 had in store. Being one of the few decent sequels for this Fall, with a crazy catalog of disappointments, it made me appreciate Season 3 even more when it's handled properly without any misconduct from management. If you're a fan of Spy x Family, rest assured, this is still good. Thank you for reading.

I generally dislike children, yet somehow this show made me adore Anya Forger from the very beginning of season one. That alone is impressive. Plot-wise, this season is much stronger than season two. Season two felt filler-heavy and made me forget how engaging the first season was—and even what the story was really about. Let’s not forget that this anime was originally presented as an adult-oriented series, not a kids’ show, and season two fell short in that regard. This season, however, has slowly steered the story back on track, and I hope they continue focusing on meaningful progress. Loid and Anya were great thisseason. Yor, she is a beautiful woman and wife to have, but she’s starting to get slightly annoying. The running gag of her messing up cooking for the 20th time just isn’t funny anymore. I didn’t laugh once. I’m not sure whether they’re trying to parody the modern woman who can’t cook or if it’s just lazy humor, but I genuinely hope she either improves or drops the gag altogether. That said, the animation is beautiful as always. This anime is very much recommended for everyone to watch. Waku waku.
