Long Zhong Ren

A rather good donghua. It's about two characters who are seemingly "stuck" inside a comic world. A male and a female student. They form a pact to escape this world and get back to reality. The anime goes through so many subplots it can be a bit much if you're binge watching. It's not to it's detriment though. It's incredibly creative throughout. The scenarios are engaging and always entertaining. The theme and artstyle also change based on the current plot but overall the anime is rather lighthearted. Until the few last episodes that is. The atmosphere completely changes, the overarching story reaches it's climax and theending presents you with equal parts bewilderment and shock. The last episode sets up a sequel so I guess we'll see if it gets a second season, as the story is left off at a cliffhanger and more questions than answers. The two main characters have a good dynamic between them. Their (non-romantic) relationship growth, interactions and jokes are all entertaining to watch even though their personalities frequently change based on the current events. There is other characters but all of them are just props of the current arc. Music and art are both great. I had fun watching this. I laughed a lot more than I would have thought and really liked the creative aspect of the anime. I just hope the studio knows what they are doing because, in my opinion, they put themselves in a really tough spot to follow with a second season. We'll see. 7.4/10
