Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventurer!
勇者パーティーを追放された白魔導師、Sランク冒険者に拾われる ~この白魔導師が規格外すぎる~
As a white mage, Lloyd is constantly looked down on by the hero party's arrogant leader, Allen, who eventually expels him on a whim. Despite being the former student of a legendary mage, Lloyd wanders the city helplessly for days, unable to find a new party in need of a supporting member. However, Lloyd's fate takes an unexpected turn when Yui, the leader of a S-rank group of adventurers, pleads with him to join her party on a mission dear to Yui's heart. Although Lloyd keeps downplaying his abilities, he eventually accepts Yui's aggressive offer. Warmly welcomed by his new allies, Lloyd may have just found the perfect place where his magical prowess will be rightfully valued. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

My usual reviews have detailed parts regarding visuals, audio, pacing, story, dialogue etc. Luckily (for me), the reviews are mostly negative, so I'll finish this faster. Everything is sht. Even though they are generic (and I can't believe I've said that), the designs are meh at most, maybe there are 3 of more decent ones. The animation is weird. No cinematography, no decent fight choreography. Lots and lots of copy/paste scenes for the magic casting scenes. Audio. Mid at most. Yes, even the VAs. The ED has decent visuals. And thats it. Character development, pacing, world-building, soft magic system. Ha! You're joking right? And now the reeaaaally "good" stuff.Same old "super mega OP" supporting cast that is kicked out because he looks useless. But at least we get a somewhat likable hero, yes? Or some harem stuff, yes? Or at least just cute girls on screen, in his new party or otherwise, yes? Or at least the anime looks decent enough visually, yes? Anything? Oh, my bad. We get 2 (I don't think there's a third, altoungh it might actually be just one) "lucky pervert" scene(s). Well, that should be enough to give us a second season.... Pfew, that went quick! It gets a 3, or a 4.... I'm not sure, I'm still debating. Not recommended (*gasp* oh, no!). No rewatch value. * double gasp* No idea why this anime was needed. While its not deplorable like some other tiles, it exists just to be there. Oh, its a 4. Some idea of character development for someone other than the main party. Oh, right, I dunno where I should put it, so here: fking terrible sh***y "singing spell". No idea what they tried to do. There are a couple of anime with some kind of a "singing spell" but this one was .... ugh.... Anyway, thats all. Rewatch something you like instead. Have a lovely evening.

This show will tickle that itch in your brain for an OP MC not knowing his own strength but being trained by one of the greatest heroes to live and then joining a nice and family-like party that respects the MC and his power, after being kicked out of the hero's party because of the hero thinking the MC was usless when in actual fact the MC was the only thing making the hero's party work well kinda itch. I’ll admit, at first I thought this was going to be another cookie-cutter “MC gets kicked out but proves everyone wrong” story. And in many ways, itis. But what kept me watching was the way the S-rank party is portrayed. They’re not incompetent or relying on Lloyd to carry them from the bottom up; they were already capable and respected long before he joined. This adds a refreshing twist, since it’s less about the MC dragging weaklings to the top, and more about him finding a group where his skills are actually recognized and valued. It makes the party chemistry feel genuine, not forced. On the technical side, the animation and visuals aren’t anything special. There are rough spots, and nothing about the art direction really stands out. But if you’re here for the characters and the fantasy vibes, it’s serviceable enough. Turn your brain off, and you’ll find the action, magic, and party banter enjoyable without needing every frame to be polished. Kono Shiromadoushi ga Kikakugai Sugiru may not reinvent the wheel, but it does a solid job at what it sets out to do. If you’re craving an easy-to-watch fantasy with an overpowered protagonist who finally finds the right party to belong to, this is one worth giving a try. P.S I guess I'll give this show a "Recommended" review as it needs atleast one :}

This anime really surprised me in a good way. The animation is smooth and consistent, making every scene enjoyable. I recommend it because the MC is overpowered but not arrogant, which feels refreshing. His character is unique, though sometimes he seems a bit too plain. Still, that makes him more relatable. The story itself is unique, and I enjoyed watching it with my mother—we both smiled a little after finishing. The art style fits the story perfectly, adding to the overall charm. I truly hope for a Season 2, especially to see if he chooses the Master, Yui, or Silica as his girlfriend.

I wanted to like this, in theory this series is perfect for me and the type I love to watch, however watching this felt like a chore. I'm not sure why but for some reason this series just missed the mark, I will say it started well with its first episode and there were some good moments, and I liked that he joined a heroes party and they didn't stick around for the entire series unlike what you often see. The main characters are flat and lack appeal, and as this is who we're focused on, spending time with and the reason we're watching, then they shouldhave something that appeals to the viewer. But they lack any real personality, there is no depth so any time with them is just dull. This is made worse when you realise that there are two characters who have potential and would have made a far better focus. Ryouen, the beastfolk who is quirky enough to stand out during her scenes has strong potential as a character, and of cause Merlin, who while still slightly underdeveloped still has more depth than all the others combined almost as if they poured the personality and quirks into her and then said "that's all we can spare, we're at our quota and no one else gets any personality." Needless to say we don't get enough of her in the series. Those are the characters we should have been more focused on and should have been the main cast, or at least give the actual main cast some personality, they should have been given enough depth, quirks and likability to stand out. Normally you expect the MC to be bland in these kinds of series, but it is then the rest of the cast that fills the personality hole, here they just add to the personality vacuum. The plot is generic, terribly generic to its detriment, it is not well paced and the problems started pretty much with what it outlined in the synopsis... He joins the S-Rank party to do a quest, and as soon as they set out the whole thing is dull as anything, its boring, so little happens its like watching paint dry, then what action you do get is so badly done, thought out and animated that it holds no excitement. As the series progresses it doesn't get better it manages to make its battle scenes bland, they are simply something that exists, soulless, joyless, you get nothing out of them. Its not even a question of budget as other studios have managed to pull off better fight scenes and make them more exciting and enjoyable with their low budgets, I'm not demanding spectacular animation here, after all I watch trash isekai for fun. And this is where I also have to admit that the animation quality here is also bad, it is often at times inconsistent, I am used to average quality animation and bad CGI, but things like this shows a lack of care by the studio, and if the studio don't care about what they are making then it is not a good sign, not to mention it feels dated. On paper this series is what I enjoy, trash anime with the OP MC, the kind of mindless fun anime you so often see... Except this series forgot that it should be fun, and when something like this is not even fun to watch, what even is left? The only reason I don't score this lower is because I have seen worse, I can't recommend this as by default most series are better than this one, and from this season Mizu Zokusei no Mahoutsukai is right there showing us how it is done right.

Rating: 2/10 - Not worth a watch. Scooped Up by an S-Rank Adventure's weak point is by far its visuals. Even at the show's best moments, every single action/battle scene is choreographed and animated at such a subpar level it's hard to feel any tension or emotions while watching; you ultimately just end up waiting for the battle to move on. Scooped Up by an S-Rank at its worst has plenty of scenes where you get to watch our main character as a still image PNG cast spells; a couple of scenes were so bad they caught me by surprise, and I actually laughed, soI guess at times the animation does spark an emotion. Now, we've all watched plenty of shows with poor animation; the reason I'm giving Scooped Up by an S-Rank such a low score is its boring character interactions/dynamics. The main 5 characters are successfully conveyed to be nice people that hold trust in each other and have the power of friendship and what not, but none of their personalities spark any interest. The friendship of the main party is never really threatened with drama or dramatically deepened by overcoming a challenge. Surprisingly, this show doesn't attempt even a glimpse of romance between the characters; it just holds the status quo of friendship that they almost all immediately had for each other. The only character worth watching is Merlin; the entire cast besides Merlin are at best damn near boring. If for some reason you're really feeling the trope of "MC gets kicked out of the hero's party" or have another aspect that draws you to this show, I would recommend just turning to the source material. I have not read the LN, but this animation production does nothing to properly convey the story in an interesting way.
