Lamune tells the story of a boy named Kenji and his childhood friend Nanami. Although, everyone seems to know that they have a relationship, neither are determined to push it anymore than close friends. The story goes through flashbacks, explaining why they are such close friends and any action doesn't seem to push them apart, but draw them closer. (Source: ANN)

Lamune is a Slice of Life, Romance, Comedy, Drama about a boy (Kenji) and girl (Nanami) who grew up together and lately have begun to have feelings for each other, but don’t admit to them. Nothing new about this childhood friend romantic set-up; but unlike similar anime that prefer to bombard us with drama, angst and romance, Lamune is more of a calm, relaxed series to go with the rural setting. Each episode tends to begin with a flashback, of some event in their childhood and then proceeds to relate it in some way to the story's present events. Yet with this being ashort series, the story happens to move at a snail’s pace, with each episode only managing to cover a small bit of ground. This really takes away some of the enjoyment but still it's easy to end up continuing anyway. With the story revolving around the characters, they all are fairly important. Being one of the few male characters in the series, Kenji does do a decent job as the protagonist and is really reliable but a lot of the jokes he pulls can be fairly petty. The girls have rather typical personalities for this kind of series plus have one thing in common, they’re all overly cute. Of course Nanami stands out from the rest but at least they all get their moment. The animation has an equal amount of good and bad points that make it hard to judge. The environments are nice & vibrant and the character designs look good (cute girls of course); however, at a distant, the characters look just plain crap and there are some inconsistencies in the detail of their design. The music of this series is mostly just a bunch of soft & simple melodies, which can get repetitive after a while. And Seeing how this series is set around the summer, expect to hear the all familiar ambient sounds (cicadas). Overall Lamune is a tranquil and fairly enjoyable slice of life romance, which is as light-hearted as an anime can get (other than Aria of course). Though due to the issues involved in each episode, being so minor, it’s easy to get bored of this uninspiring anime series. Also with the romance going nowhere most of the time, it can feel like a waste of time. At least this anime is good enough and short enough to finish in one sitting and it has a somewhat fulfilling ending. So if you want to quickly breeze through a laid back anime then this one should do the job.

Story: Well the story is pretty normal. It's the perfect example of what real life in the country side is like. The series starts out pretty slow, basically explaining who the two main characters are, why they're so close, and how they first met. Gradually as you watch each episode you learn a little more about the two and their relationship, while also getting introduced to other friends. To be fair, wile starting this series, don't expect to be drawn in by drama, conflict, or a compelling story because this show has next to none at all. It's a simple story about two kids thatgrow up liking each other and not even realizing it till something happens. Art: The character design is surprisingly well done. The girl characters are really attractive and the male characters dress more like todays young teens do. The colors used for specific scenes where also great, however the few times they used CG (ie. the alien video game) was really bad and should not ever have been done. Sound: The music also fit good with the show. Sound effects for the Bikes and storm where also done great. Character: Character personality's where pretty good, with the exception of a few characters. All seemed to fit well with the show though. As I already stated in the art part, the characters clothes where close to what young teens currently where now and the way the characters interacted seemed realistic as well. It wasn't like most anime shows where people are either a class clown/bully or a class president. Everyone seemed like they where on the same level so to speak. Enjoyment: At the start of the show it didn't feel all that enjoyable, however once I started to get to know more about each character, I felt compelled to learn more. The ending was a nice dramatic touch to a relatively mellow series. Overall: If you're looking for a real slice of life series where the male character is only bound to one girl and slowly gets closer to her, then this is for you. Personally before even starting this show, from the look of the cover and the summary, I had originally thought this was going to be another slice of life/harem where the male lead has to choose between several of his fellow attractive classmates that like him. But I was totally wrong. Don't get me wrong though, there are a few girls that seem to like him but as the story progresses they simply realize they wont be able to compete against the bond that he and his childhood friend Nanami share so they give up on him fast. The series was a great time killer!

Lamune is nothing less than a simple light-hearted, comedic romance. But even then it is fairly enjoyable. The Story: 6/10 ------------------ In Lamune, every episode begins with a flashback from the past, detailing a section of the childhood relationship of the two main characters, Nanami and Kenji. What was depicted in the flashback is then, in one way or another connected to the main story which admittedly is not much. Lamune adopts a storyline we’ve seen too many times in anime- the ‘childhood friend romance’. Even so, it is one of the best to take advantage of this. It’s comedy revolves around the two main characters and someof the supporting characters to poke around in the main characters bubble to create a very light humour in the series. The story overall is peaceful, with little dramas and being all about the growing relationship between Nanami and Kenji. Though predictable, one can ignore this if they aren’t expecting it to be the most absolutely amazing masterpiece. What this anime is for is the ride. A peaceful one where you should simply relax, sip some tea and watch all in one sitting. The ending, being entirely satisfying promotes it to become a very solid romance anime. The Art: 8/10 --------------- For a 2005 anime, its art is actually quite pretty. The character designs truly do look similar, but the bright colours on each and every one of the characters make them look entirely different in a way and this makes them likeable, and memorable. The background looks like a professional artist painting on an expensive canvas creating scenery of the green and lush countryside. Yes, it’s actually that good. The director attempted to create a neutral scene to compliment the mood of the story and at that- it was undeniably successful. The Sound: 7/10 ------------------- Character voice actors were very fitting for the ones portrayed in the anime. Voice complimented character figure, and character figure complimented the voice. Seiyuus, physically seemed like they matched the condition of the specific role they played and so little natural voice alteration was not needed. Background music is fitting for the story, from the noise rain makes on the concrete to the natural noises in forest walks- the sound was very fitting for the atmosphere. The opening isn’t that particularly interesting, neither is the ending soundtrack. The only thing they provided or the viewer was to convey the emotion you’re meant to feel while watching the anime- and the opening scenes helped to reinforce that and prepare you for what was lying ahead. The Characters: 7/10 ------------------------ The characters were made entirely stereotypical. The regular guy you see- not overly perverse but to the extent of blushes and staring at the girl with her underwear showing before looking away after realising she’s looking directly at him. Then you have the girl who’s a bit blunt- as well as being overly innocent and slow to catch on. Then the shy girl- the one who can’t confess and needs her friends help to start making a move. Then the younger sister figure who teases around his older brother and girlfriend’s relationship. Nothing we haven’t seen before, but then at least it’s not horrible. Character development was evidently slow, but it’s quite suitable because of the time span in the anime from the first episode to the last. The supporting cast had a suitable number of characters but none of them were really developed in the story. The Enjoyment: 8/10 ------------------------ Others looking for a non-dramatic ride in an anime would probably enjoy this. I know I sure did, especially right after watching a romance anime with the most horrible ending ever. Ever. I’ll probably never re-watch this, and you’ll probably not either if you were to view this as well. Ultimately, it’s just too plain. You won’t rediscover mind-blowing things by re-watching this, nor will you gain anymore satisfaction from it. It’s best to be used as a one-time-only anime. Overall: 7/10 --------------- Overall, this anime is a good change from all the teary-dramatic romance anime you find nowadays. This is basically a slice-of-life anime without the heartbreaks and serious atmosphere. A great time filler, recommended if you’re not looking for something thoughtful.

I love this series very much and the story is totally enjoyed for me. At first I think this is be gonna boring story and totaly dork but after watched on the second and third episode I realize something that the story is totally different with the most common school life anime. I like the setting story in urban country where I can feel relaxed so much wathed this anime. The sound and music is very nice I can feel wind of the beach on myself while watching this series. The character is totally very good like nanami is very beautiful, cute, and i like her facewhen angry at the heroic character Ken-chan (the name she called him) insulted her. The character of heroic is very gentle , dependable, and all what he do is totally similiar to very perfect gentle man must be. So, this anime is awesome when you depressing with your life this is anime maybe can raise your spirit again , sorry with my poor english...^^

I usually don't write reviews but this one is an exception, (well atleast for now). I saw the whole series on a free sunday so that might influence my opinion a bit. Story: Well the story takes a while before it gets interesting. In the first part you get to know the character pretty well, they refer to the past between the two leads which shows the true friendship between them. That true friendsip also gets in the way with a romatic relationship. Their relationship grows bigger and bigger without them noticing it in the first place, or maby its denial, I still haven't figured outthat part yet. The friends of the leads allready know all about their relationship and it takes untill the end for them to figure that out themselve. Overall its a cute anime but in my opinion it takes a bit too long before anything interesting is happening. Art: The artwork is pretty great if you ask me, the looks of the character fit their true nature pretty well. The girls looks cute and the boys, well i guess they look like boys in real life. The clothing looks fasionable aqnd the surroundings look pretty nice aswell. Sound: The background music, voices and sound affects are very good. But the ambient sound effects do get a bit dull after hearing them for 12 episodes. Characters: The lead character are pretty unique, the characters surrounding them are also unique but are in my opinion too flat. You dont really know anything about the surrounding characters after watching the whole anime. Which is quite a shame. Enjoyment: Dont let the comment above fool you. The reason that I chose to review this anime is because I really liked it a lot! There was humor that makes you laugh out loud and there was drama that makes you cry. It was enjoyable enough to make me watch the whole series in 1 day. Overall: If you are looking for an anime that is enjoyable without the harem aspect, and without too mucht school drama, I guess this is the anime for you! Don't let the slow start discourage you from watching it till the end. The ending is pretty surprising and it wont be a waste of time.
